Snow Too much snow! Help!

... snip snip snip. Interesting that the taller Bs are having problems as well, I would not have thought they would.

Oh yah. My B2920 was just way underpowered. Having the height was nice, but it could not hack it (see previous post). There were times when the I'd get the tractor up on a snow berm and I was close to tipping.

Had I any brains, I would have been out there when there was 6 inches of it, rather then wait until there was a foot to 18 inches. I now understand better that there are different types of snow. I've handled the previous snows up to 20 inches before, but the weight of this was just totally different. I could not go with it the way I had with the previous snows.

I'm in St. Mary's as well. My B3200 faired "OK". I had to do close to a 1/2 mile drive. I just kept pushing with the FEL and back pushing with the rear blade. Took a while but I was able to get my Jeep out. I'll do some touching up tomorrow and do a better job.

We got your snow last winter. Sure was a nice change from the wet snow we usually get. A lot easier to get around on that dry stuff.

My daughter said it was broken 'cause it wouldn't make good snowballs. LOL

i had to make some piles too, enough that I couldn't have went any taller with my tractor (B7510).

The snow had drifted quite a bit so some of it was ankle deep and some of it was 3' deep.

The FEL is not the best choice for snow removal, so to say the 2920 can't hack it is a bit inaccurate.

Most of the previous posters on this thread seemed to have to revert to the FEL to finally move their snow. What should they have done?

This snow was definately made for a blower. My neighbor has a large, self propelled one and it seemed to cut through just fine. His drive is all nicely done and "manicured" looking. I have piles everywhere.

Luckily the county stayed on top of our roads. I cleared out at the street with the FEL, then back up the drive as far as I could to pull with the RB. Once I get the first path cut, it is easier to move it around. I usually do four of my neighbors driveways as well (100-200 ft) - so got a ton of seat time yesterday. The R4's did very well - two of the drives are 20+ degree inclines Need to go back today - at least the sun is out!

Many times yesterday I wished for the blower - but the BX was still better than shoveling. Not sure I would invest in one yet - unless this becomes a morm

Now, just need to get the kinks out of my neck and back.......:D

Unless I had a tracked dozer or a monster size tractor with a blade, no way I could get through the stuff we have without using the FEL to move and pile up snow. It is 4-5 feet of really heavy snow here in drifts.

you guys are actually making me jealous of all that snow. :p glad to hear everyone is doing ok and finding ways to cope with what they have. Looks like majority found that chains do help but not necessary. ;)
