From SW PA...Got pretty much buried...2 ft or so..... Some of the piles have shrunk due to the warm temps yesterday and the abundant sunshine we had..Thank goodness!!!

You should keep one of those last 2 for your next year's Christmas card :)

"I'm not aware of any of my tractor-owning neighbors using their FEL bucket to plow snow;"

Don't know, around here farmers with very big tractors and blades were not getting anywhere, they weren't getting any traction when pushing snow. This snow was very heavy and if like me, you waited until today, it was a bear of a job. Don't know if you get this Noreaster type of wet heavy snow which comes from warm atlantic air meeting cold air where you are.

My 11 HP self propelled 2-stage snow blower was dead in the water and just couldn't push itself through the snow and the job was done with my BX24 and the FEL. Snow had to be picked up and moved out of the way. Started at about 9 and it is now 2 PM and I finally cleared a FEL wide path on my driveway to the street, mind you it is only about 100 yards and I still have to clear the parking area and widen the path a bit.

26" of heavy wet stuff is WAY beyond a BX with a rear blade. I spent hours with the FEL today building piles as high as I could push them (about 6') but eventually got the job done. A blower would have been easier but not necessarily faster due to clogging

Great picture Ace Deuce, looks like a postcard!
Regarding blower clogging, all you need is some silicone spray on the augers, fan and definitly the whole chute, followed up with fluid film. It works pretty good.

AAAGGGHH. You guys are making me so jealous talking about all the snow you guys are getting. I do snow removal commercially and purchased a Grand L 4330 this fall anticipating our usual bad winter but so far we've only gotten about 12 inches. Looks Like I will get to scratch my itch tomorrow morning though. calling for 6" tonight and another 6" on Tuesday. Will try to remember to take pics.

Next time, set your alarm and don't let 2 feet of heavy snow pile up before you start!:)

Okay, my 900+ feet of lane is now clear enough to travel over, but it took me maybe 6-7 hours total of forward/reverse pushing and loading. About half of the work can be done by pushing the piles off to one side, using the rear blade and lots of patience, but the other half had to be loaded, backed and dumped wherever I could find a spot. (Too many trees and brush, plus the lane is cut down between banks for some 100's of feet). Other than sore shoulders, from looking over my shoulder all day, and a lot of clutch wear, I'm done. (man, I wish I had a hydro tranny!) Those who observed that just plowing it every few hours, and not waiting until you have 28" to deal with, are correct! My neighbor, who takes care of a half mile of paved lane, has a big 4 wheel drive pickup and v-plow, and he did just that. He said he didn't think he could have done my lane once all the snow was down. I didn't want to stay up all night, so there you go... We had a storm like this in 2003, and I wonder if we will be enjoying more of them, thanks to climate change? I am leaning towards finding a good walk behind snow blower this spring, which would at least give me a way to walk out to a vehicle parked out, worst case. I will attach a foto of my Subaru, just when the storm ended. More cleaning required. Since the University where my wife teaches is closed tomorrow, Monday, all I have to do is go out and get diesel.

Long hard slog from the barn to the parking area. If you look you can see where the BX slid down hill and the ruts where it was stuck. Yes, I used some old car mats to get un stuck!
