Just noticed that the Godfather series hasn't been mentioned yet.

The second with all the flashbacks was my favorite.

Quote from the movie:
You do and it'll be the biggest mistake YOU ever made, you Texas brush-popper!

Many of my favorites have already been listed.

In the obscure foreign horror/black comedy category tracking down Riget I and II is definitely worth the effort (much better than King's remake of Kingdom Hospital even if it ends abruptly).

Also on the foreign front is J-horror like Audition, but it's hard to classify it as a favorite since once the cat's out of the bag (pun intended if you've seen this :)) rewatching isn't nearly as good.

I've got a large DVD collection and my tastes keep changing. Kill Bill and the other Tarantino movies are fun. Action flicks like the Lethal Weapon series are also good choices, or for more Mel Mad Max. My favorite genre is horror, but as mentioned above they're hard to rewatch since the surprises are gone while The Blues Brothers can be watched over and over again. The tricky thing to deal with is that my wife hates movies that don't answer all the questions and have a definite ending while I love them.

Wow...my list floats a lot!

1) They Were Expendable (always in the top 5)
....
But, this changes...however, #1 is ALWAYS there!

AMEN Roy!!!

#1 in my book too.

VADM John D. Bulkeley was a honest to goodness real HERO and the movie does a credible job of telling part of his life's story. Even though I spent most of my Navy career as an Airdale, I've always considered Admiral Bulkeley as one of the Navy's truest WARRIORs. Too bad John Wayne didn't play his part instead of Robert Montgomery.

Incidentally, Gen Eisenhower brought him over to Europe to be a part of the Normandy Invasion.

Here's the official USN bio of Admiral Bulkeley.

Unforgiven
Tombstone
Back to the Future series
Indiana Jones series
Crimson Tide
Frequency
Family Man
True Lies
Pearl Harbor

Also, my wife don't get these, but I love 'em:

Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
