In the obscure foreign horror/black comedy category tracking down
Riget I and
II is definitely worth the effort (much better than King's remake of Kingdom Hospital even if it ends abruptly).
Also on the foreign front is J-horror like
Audition, but it's hard to classify it as a favorite since once the cat's out of the bag (pun intended if you've seen this

) rewatching isn't nearly as good.
I've got a large DVD collection and my tastes keep changing.
Kill Bill and the other Tarantino movies are fun. Action flicks like the
Lethal Weapon series are also good choices, or for more Mel
Mad Max. My favorite genre is horror, but as mentioned above they're hard to rewatch since the surprises are gone while
The Blues Brothers can be watched over and over again. The tricky thing to deal with is that my wife hates movies that don't answer all the questions and have a definite ending while I love them.
