Of course, this means Thread Of The Month - Should there be one ?

There is a MOTM, so why not ?

I'd win every month of course, but it would be fun seeing others try and beat me...

Too late Dean

Actually, I like the idea, not that I would ever do anything exciting enough to win it.
Good luck with it.

It would be easy to do this with a single SQL script if you enable the "thanks" add-in button. Then you can simply search for the thread with the most "thanks" in each given month. Easy as pie, and allows you to expand to a Top 10 style if you so choose later on.

This forum is definitely lacking a "thanks" button anyhow, as that is most often the best way to say "me too" when someone says something worth noting. A win-win for everyone, including you.

I totally agree!

You could also make it a seperate bit under the Post Count saying how many times the user has been thanked.

Going back to the topic Bill started about how do you tell how to trust somebody when they answer your question, you could look at how many times they've been thanked before.

"Thanks" is too dated...my preference would be to use "Like" such as Facebook makes possible.

Many times I have posted a fix for something I devised for my use here or a solution that has worked for me just to pass my information along to other members, like my method for outwitting the spill-proof spouts. Would be nice to learn how many members "liked" my solutions or fixes.

Here we could also use "Like" to show we admire someone's photo or that we approved of their post without typing in

Muhammad, as much as I approve of the idea of TOTM, wouldn't it be a lot of difficulty for you and your staff to implement?

A thanks or like button would be interesting. If applied, I just hope it dont get out of hand. Kinda like another forum about saws that I dont visit anymore that had "rep".

IMO, it got too out of hand and people were "begging" for it. And others would get offensive if they offered good advise and didnt get any "rep" for it.

But that site also had more sour grapes than here.

There are some things I never thought I would ever live to see, this is one of them.

Maybe we can make it a "high five and chest bump" button instead.

I'd be interested to follow the lawsuit which would result in using the trademarked "like" button text.

The original suggestion was made because there is already a "thanks" add-in for vbulletin which is free.

Thanks is outdated ? I shall have to remember when somebody does something for me next to say "Like!" to them rather than "Thanks!".

If there was a "like" button I would not use it, as I don't want to "like" something, I want to thank the person for posting it.
