In tractor hydraulics

PCCV = pilot controlled check valve
DPCCV = dual pilot controlled check valve - used on cylinders to prevent creep/bleed down, or prevent catastrophic collapse if there's hose failure etc.

In machinist jargon for defining the smallest practical measurement of distance, e.g. "One RCH" (red ___ hair)

Rule of 3 F's for fiscally responsible toy management, "If it Flies, Floats, or Flirts - - Rent It!".

RTFM = Read The F!@#ing Manual.

RTFM goes back to the days before the internet as we know it today. There was no HTML or the web pages that it builds. Back then we'd connect to various file servers all over what was then, the Arpanet. One of these was a file server at MIT in Cambridge where you could find a wealth of information. You can see what is left of it here: ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/

Very cool - I started with CPM - rather, TPM, with an Epson QX-10, with my neighbor's help. He had started with an Altair, then learned how to run bigger machines like the PDP-11, and eventually worked for a robotics company before retiring. He frequently chided me to "ryfm", but I doubt he much needed one!

Back when I was working as an engineer we'd be in a meeting with technical and business people discussing a project. When a technical issue was brought up that the techies didn't understand we'd attribute it to FM. The techies knew that it meant "I have no idea" and the bean counters figured we had it covered.
