Did you get a price breakdown? How much was the grapple? Which armstrong grapple was it?

I got a price breakdown but not specific model of grapple. I am waiting on the grapple info. I emailed him early this evening about that. He told me on the phone when we were negotiating earlier today and i forgot to write it down. it would cost about 2k. He said there's a land pride for 3500, and an ambo sp? for 4100 but that the armstrong would be the best for the money for me. Probably him too :)

I've got about 6 acres i need to clear. Grown up, fallen trees everywhere, metal, trash...

Thinking about putting a beer barn on part of it. Anyone have experience with one? :drink:

Forgot to mention, can use m59 to spread sp2 parking lot and put up metal building for beer barn. My list of uses for the tractor is growing exponentially

It will grow more once you get it.

Did a little research and if the grapple you are looking at is the ArmStrong ag products they appear to be lower quality and less durable than some of the others I have seen.
Might try to get the dealer to sweeten the deal with a better grapple all other things remaining the same. Make sure you are getting a good heavy duty bucket on the fel too, no future in a light weight bucket. All the light duty buckets I see are bent to heck while the heavy duty buckets seem to be unharmed.

Have you considered a LS R4047 with a hoe? I know you considered a 4041. Good luck in your decision making.

I did and I like the local LS dealer and with LS get a lot for the money. My thoughts, which i knew just enough to make a dumb deciosion about tractors before talking to folks on this site, are that if i'm going to use this machine for 20-30 years, go with something that I won't regret. The previous owner of the mobile home park I own had a full size backhoe. I thought I could get by with a small tractor and backhoe attachment. I know now I would be cussing every time time i stepped off the cut with hoe.

I bought an 03 dodge 2500 5.9 cummins new in 04. It has 90k miles on it. It will probably be passed down to my grandson. My son is only 2 :). I like good equipment, take care of it, and hold on

Here is a grapple like I would want on a M59.

W.R. Long Open Bottom Grapple 1

I was going to wait on grapple...but if good deal...go ahead and wrap into financing. Definitely want something to hold up. On the fel, he said it would be the heavy duty one with round back. not specified on quote though. glad u mentioned that.

Aren't w.r. long top of the line? Haven't researched grapples. Salesman said this grapple is plenty strong but will definitely find out for sure before signing. If it's weak will hold off and try to find good used. The land clearing isn't a fire i need to put out. Can hold off awhile

You might be able to find a used Skid steer grapple.

I'm going to research the grapple he suggested and if not good then hold off. I'm about worn out on research. Can figure out what i really need ie. what works best in clay soil, trees, metal and make good decision later. I feel like I have a phd in tractors now....more like a bachelor's degree...i need a summer break from school

I would rather hold off on the grapple to allow time for research at a later date. Would not wan't to put 2/3rds of the money a good grapple costs into a cheap one that bends up. I recommend you read Roger's thread on the wicked grapple build shown at the bottom of his post when you have the time.

If you can weld and have the time there are some implements you can build and save some money on. Things such as the manlift, land planes and harrow are easy to do while forks are better bought instead. Take your time choosing the right implements and add them after you have done the research and know what you need.

You have come a long way since starting this thread and deciding to go with the M59 will provide you with a good tlb to expand on.
