I posted a question to Muhammed in the questions forum here: Tractor encyclopedia

Regarding starting a database of photos of the different tractors and models, as well as implement photos, so when someone is posting about their particular tractor or implement, a novice like myself could go look it up and see what it is and how it compares.

I would like to ask and encourage all of you to please post photos of your equipment with a caption being the type and model number, so when someone see's you have a JD5200, or a "3 knuckled, flexible spindled, grunch grinder", and searches photos for it, it will display as a result. I think it would be a great resource for those of us who aren't familiar with every model. If you have room in the caption, maybe a very brief, general synopsis of what that particular model is designed for. Just a suggestions.

Slydog:

Could you be so kind to post a pic of the "3 knuckled, flexible spindled, grunch grinder" cause I have no clue to what that is and how I can attached it to my tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and you know....if I see a pic.....well, maybe I can convince the wife I need one

Welcome to my ****! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
That's what I'm sayin! (after re-reading what I'd come up with on that particular "implement", I don't think they'd let me post a picture of it on here /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So, do you want the caption right on the photo?

Or will a note herein do?

I think that's a reasonable and good request. I don't know all the models of my own brand tractor, let alone when someone mentions one that isn't made anymore. Why go to the particular site when the pic could be found right here?

On the other hand, I know this site is the best I've ever found for features, pics, searches on ancient topics, but how much info can it really hold? Your asking for a lot of available info (MBs)...

If it's possible I'd like to see it done. There's my vote.

If you put the information on the picture itself the search engine can't see it or index it.

Better under the picture or within the post I would guess.

I think that would be good too. Under the picture, or where ever it lets you put a caption. That way it will show up in a search.

As far as MB's go, well, Ibrahim didn't seem to have any comment about that, if you read the link to the other thread. Also, perhaps if you do a search for your model tractor first and there is already one there then you wouldn't necessarily need to upload a new one. Unless of course you just want to show off yours. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't see how that would create a problem anyway, since any member can now upload his own pics and what I guess is, as many as he wants.

Perhaps they could make it a "Tractor ID's only" kind of folder, or "implement ID" kind of thing. Whatever, I just think it would be a great addition to an already great community resource...TBN.

Ken,

Maybe you didn't notice, but there seems to be a "folder" for just about every brand of tractor on the first screen in the photo section, with an "attachments" folder also. Within the attachments folder it's further broken down by type of implement to some degree.

Attachments Photo link

Hey, right on, I did'nt know that was there. Yeah, I'll you would have to do is build upon what is already existing.

No I didn't notice, and you are the first one who has mentioned it. I've never browsed the photo section, only clicked on some members personal folder links, or just done searches for certain tractors via the photo's link. Thanks for the new link.
