Dargo; Why you selfcentered lout!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gifHow could you possibly expect that poor person to actually have to backup? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was thinking the biggest problem was that the 15 pound door would sprain the unwitting mailperson's wrist. I may need to get a counter weight for the door.

Just to be on the safe side, before I spend the trouble mounting it, I'll get the mailman's approval. If he doesn't approve it, I already know of some other uses for it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Don; It's a nice project well done nevertheless! How's the welding class treating you? Have you gotten to verticle up yet? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John the class has been over for a month now and I wanted to see if my butt weld would hold on the thinner metal. The vertical up with the side to side pause zip across got me to thinking if I can weld up on a piece of metal I should always be able to weld down also, so it seemed kind of useless. Your class seemed more structured. I knew I was going to get a MIG so after a month of mastering stick I started building things with the MIG.

Don; The only verticles I mastered was MIG/TIG. Go figure with the TIG. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif What MIG welder did you wind up with. I really like the Miller XMT304, I beleive it is, but at the price I'm going to keep stick welding. I need a BH more than that welder. It appears I lean toward the top of the line when it comes to tools. Expensive initial outlays of the green, but no problems/replacements either for the most part. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
With that 5030 running over your new box, it looks like you succeded with your welding. Couldn't see a crack anywhere!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John I went with The Millermatic Passport (the 45 pound blue box on the ground). I wanted everything in a welder-110 or 220, gas or flux core, portable and a MIG. It has one smooth hot arch, I can hear that bacon frying now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Bob Skurka also got the Passport, but I don't think he has fired it up yet.

Don; I was on the verge of replying last night when the power went out due to some thunderstorms coming thru. I haven't considered the Passport until now, sounds like something I might be interested in. Can it go DC? Also what kind of torch is it, spoolgun or wire feed? How many amps will it go on MIG? At any rate, it looks like you get some nice welds out of it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John, The Passport only accepts AC. It is a MIG only welder and when you use Flux Core wire you switch the polarity in the box. The gun is a M10 gun that is wire fed (and gas fed) from the box. You can connect a large or small roll of wire and you can connect small, in the box gas, CO2 12oz with built in regulator, or any large gas cylinders to a connection on the side of the box.

On 110 it will go from 30 to 140 amps and on 220 it will go between 30 and 180 amps. The duty cycle runs between 20 and 60%, the longer duty cycle with 220v.

Two plug ends come with the Passport that snap on and off for 110 and 220v.
