Don; I got around to looking up the specs for the Passport, not a bad little welder. The best price I found was $1367. How is that for a price. I like that thing! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Panache, the generator I have is a Troybuilt 5550 w and 8550 peak. I know everyone recommends Honda or Yamaha but one day I was walking into Lowe's and the generator was on sale for $500. because it's extra extension cord was missing and I couldn't pass on the deal. The regular price, depending on which Lowe's you go to is between $699 and $629. It has a 10 Hp BS engine. I rigged up some short pieces of chains to the frame so I can load it with the FEL easily.

John, cyberweld has the Passport for $1325, no tax or shipping. I got mine for about $1300 at a Technology show where I demoed it in Houston. The only things I added to it were a roller for flux core wire and a extra CO2 bottle which I got a Academy's sporting goods for about 25ish dollars. Academy fills the (paint ball) bottles for about $2.50. The only negative is the duty time. Don't be in a hurry on a large project. Most of my welds will be short, or I can take my time so it's not a big deal for me. The beads look good! and it gets plenty hot for the thicker metal, this is no wimpy welder. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I didn't want to have to walk 1/4 mile to check the mail.

Why walk when you can drive your car or tractor or check your mail when you are already going out or coming out?

John, if you want to drive down to Indiana, I can lend you my new Passport . . . but you'll have to bring me a bottle of Ron & Betty's wine as the "rental" fee! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob; The trip would be easy, but the wine might be a little hard to get. That's a fine homebrew isn't? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
