Well..... here is the "enlightenment" requested.
Why would anyone assume a battery to be "crappy", just because it has a Battery Tender attached?
I have 16 batteries, and keep a Battery Tender/Minder attached to each, when that particular machine is stored, or not in use.
If all those batteries were "crappy", I too would need to be a battery dealer.
I once thought Interstate WAS the "gold standard"
I do NOT have a "gold standard" battery choice.
It is simple: Interstate stiffed me on the battery warranty for a vehicle I use in Canada.
Each of the three locally advertised Canada Interstate dealers I visited, told me they were dropping (one had already dropped) the Interstate line for warranty issues.
As I said above: It is simple! Screw me on the warranty = don't ever expect to see me again as a customer.

I didn't make any assumptions. I made a sarcastic comment about you having crappy batteries if you have to use that many tenders to keep things charged up. You're the one with 16 batteries attached to tenders, etc., not me. Most of my batteries get used fairly regularly, and a lot just sit waiting for my use, with the exception of my boat which is totally seasonal, and has its own specialized marine grade charger attached to the wall when not in use. I don't have but one original Battery Tender full size to occasionally bring a battery up to full charge. And I too have around 16, in my case, (Interstate batteries), in various vehicles, as I previously stated.
I can't help you with how Canada deals with Interstate warranty issues, that's a whole 'nother country, and how they do business is their thing. Doesn't reflect, from my POV, one way or the other on things here in the US.
I never said Interstate was the only game in town; but if the OP is replacing his battery every two years he needs to step up to a better brand. Interstate is one of probably a number of excellent brands that makes and sells batteries that can easily last more than two years, especially if one uses a tender to keep it topped off when not being used regularly.
You have a problem with your experience with one vehicle used in another country, and therefore won't buy any more Interstate batteries; your choice, (you say you were 'screwed' on warranty), but it has no relevance as to the quality of their product, nor does it have anything to do with my having been a dealer at a certain point in time. And I never said that Interstate was anyone's gold standard, even for me; I just have had good service from them since the 1980's.
If you have that many batteries maybe
you should open a shop and become a dealer of some brand of battery. You still haven't said what brand you now swear by. I'm feeling so enlightened now...:confused3:
