I will update the thread when I hear something from the dealer.

As far as batteries... I just want something that will last longer than 2 years. I'd love to get 8+ years of use!

Mike, look into the DEKA batteries, you`ll be glad you did.

Personal experience...???? lol... uhhhh no, no BS my friend.
Yeah, tell me about 40+years turning wrenchs for a living in dealerships AND (STILL) owning my own shop, yeah, plenty of experience.
And yes, i WAS, an interstate battery dealer, until i got tired of customers coming back with bad batteries, and interstate`s warranty sucked.
I wouldnt come in here to say interstate batteries were great if they wern`t...TRUTH. If your a fanboy of them, GREAT, some of us are not, for good reason.

And a MasterTech for each: GM - Dodge - Honda, is that enough experience...???

Dont mean to pull the thread off course, but i felt i needed to defend my statement when someone calls BS.

I'm not your friend; and YOU are the one who CLAIMED to be telling truth to lies, not me. I merely suggested the OP try and get an Interstate battery if he was replacing whatever he had been buying up 'till now every two years.

You and 'fried' are the ones who went on the Interstate is crap and we know it rant, not me. So you're worked at dealerships for 40 years AND still own your own shop. Both, really?

I started in a partnership with a friend of mine, with NO prior experience, never worked in a gas station/ dealership or private shop. Never attended trade school or Vo-Tech. Built the business up, bought out my partner, sold the business due to adverse health effects, and never looked back. Went to graduate school and got a Master's in a totally unrelated to automotive field and kept on going. Still turn wrenches on ONLY my own stuff.
So....
Defend all you want, but realize you brought attitude about Interstate and called what I was saying lies.

Many of my friends and former employees own shops of their own now and nearly all of them sell Interstate. I've personally never had any issues with warranties. Maybe your suppliers weren't rotating your stock frequently enough, who knows. :confused3::confused2:

I'm not going to belabor this issue - buy what you want but don't try to tell people on here you are the truthsayer and I'm a liar because you don't like a product. There is no basis for that kind of BS, as I stated earlier. You having an opinion doesn't make it fact, nor does it make what I said a lie.

I didn't make any assumptions. I made a sarcastic comment about you having crappy batteries if you have to use that many tenders to keep things charged up. You're the one with 16 batteries attached to tenders, etc., not me. Most of my batteries get used fairly regularly, and a lot just sit waiting for my use, with the exception of my boat which is totally seasonal, and has its own specialized marine grade charger attached to the wall when not in use. I don't have but one original Battery Tender full size to occasionally bring a battery up to full charge. And I too have around 16, in my case, (Interstate batteries), in various vehicles, as I previously stated.

I can't help you with how Canada deals with Interstate warranty issues, that's a whole 'nother country, and how they do business is their thing. Doesn't reflect, from my POV, one way or the other on things here in the US.

I never said Interstate was the only game in town; but if the OP is replacing his battery every two years he needs to step up to a better brand. Interstate is one of probably a number of excellent brands that makes and sells batteries that can easily last more than two years, especially if one uses a tender to keep it topped off when not being used regularly.

You have a problem with your experience with one vehicle used in another country, and therefore won't buy any more Interstate batteries; your choice, (you say you were 'screwed' on warranty), but it has no relevance as to the quality of their product, nor does it have anything to do with my having been a dealer at a certain point in time. And I never said that Interstate was anyone's gold standard, even for me; I just have had good service from them since the 1980's.

If you have that many batteries maybe you should open a shop and become a dealer of some brand of battery. You still haven't said what brand you now swear by. I'm feeling so enlightened now...:confused3:

GOOD!
Glad to hear you finally got the picture!

Ok guys, lets not take this any further than it already is, this is pointless,
lets see if Mike gets his tractor fixed and hopefully he`ll let us know what fixed it.

Guys can we keep the "Interstate Battery Love/Hate Debate" out of this thread please?

Take your personal vendettas elsewhere as they do nothing to help the OP with his fault-finding.

It was picked up on Friday and I haven't heard from the dealership yet. Hopefully soon though! I'd like to get some seat time again soon. :)

update....

The wires under the dash / behind the ignition switch were chewed off. I've been slack on putting out mice/rat killer. ****. I'll re-double my efforts asap.

Rats are usually a winter problem here, not summer. Painful lesson learned.

$309 so far... now for the leaking seal at the front tire hub.... First time I have had to send it to the dealership for a repair since I bought it. Fingers crossed that I get it back this weekend yet!

Thanks for the follow-up report.
I'll refer you to Post #20. You probably didn't need a battery or the trip into town with the starter motor.

Tracing the power from battery up to Ignition switch you would have found your 'chewed wires'. The headlight wire you already found was a clue.

Rats are a year-round problem.

Glad you're up & running. The hub leak is something you can do at home also.

Mike, your VERY lucky it didnt short out and cause a fire at some point. Very happy for you and that you got it running again.
The hub seal isnt that big of deal.

RATS! literally.

No joke there... i hate those worthless animals.
The state (secretly) brought in coyotes to clean them out, now we got coyote problems.

Except that the battery failed every test given to it. The starter motor is on the same level of mechanical ease as changing a battery. So that was really no big deal.

The hub seal (and another seal on the same tire assembly) were quoted as a 5 hour job from the mechanic. I can't afford the time to do that. (oil is leaking onto the tire on the inside surface of the tire)

I'm just glad it is fixed and I will be back to work with it soon.

M-I-L's stacked washer/dryer quit agitating. Based on the "helpful diagnosis" videos on the appliance parts websites, the most likely culprits were either the "agitator drive block" or the belt. Well, you can't even see the belt without disassembling the cabinet, so wife bought a $30 drive block. Which turns out to be frozen on the transmission shaft so hard that it literally had to be chiseled off. Didn't change the problem at all. So disassembled front of cabinet to check the belt.

Immediately noticed a chewed, burnt end of a wire dangling down from the lid safety switch. D*mn mice had somehow climbed up inside the cabinet to the little ridge where the top meets the sides. Guess we were lucky it was only one wire. And lucky that no one got electrocuted while the frayed ends dangled and danced around inside.

A kitty would have prevented that.

I have had a farm for 14 years... I've had a cat for 2 months, and now I have a problem with vermin! lol

There are some cats that aren't good with rodents, but most will actively hunt and kill them, and some are exceptional in exterminating them.
