Looks like the trailer just has a walking beam suspension, so it shouldn't really sag sideways from gravity is my guess. The tractor of course has a tripod setup with the unsprung swivel axle in front so it may be less stable on a side-slope than the trailer?

Not sure what you are trying to say. The problem we are talking about is keeping a narrow vehicle, tractor or trailer, with a high center of gravity from tipping over sideways when run on side slope.

With a spring suspension, or the pivot on the front axle of a tractor, there's more of a tendency to lean, which exacerbates the tippiness of a narrow vehicle. My thought is that the wagon being relatively solid may be less tippy than the tractor, but that's just conjecture and makes assumptions about the width of the track and CoG...

OK, I see now. However, with the side slopes I have there is no doubt that either would tip over w/o a cross leveled trail to run on. The CoG of the loaded trailer is quite high compare to the tractor and the wheel base narrower.

We have lost some snow in the last couple days. Enough so I can get around w/o dragging bottom. So today I broke about a 1/4 mile of trail. The next 3 mornings are going to be around 20* and I'm hoping to pull out some more firewood.

Mr. Gordon, that looks like you got a fair amount of snow.

Would you say the snowfall was like it "used to be", or did you get less this year than historic average for your area?

Ours is way low, and if I recall correctly, Mr. Jstpssng mentioned a low snow fall in his area.

We are running 5% higher than the historical average so far this year in the St Johnsbury area.

That terrible drought that killed lawns and everything else last fall, seems to still be in effect. This is one of the driest starts to spring I can recall, so far.

I have been looking at an increasing amount of exposed dirt where there used to be lawn, with a plan to overseed this spring. But if the present weather continues, I think that'd just be wasted money.

Anyone remember the extended drought of 1998-1999, that ended with the big bang called Hurricane Floyd? Almost feels like we could be in a similar situation, this year.
