Trailer loading ??

/ Trailer loading ?? #21
6000# is total weight of trailer and load.
Most of these lite built trailers the weight has to be spread out
over a large area.
If your tractor wheelbase was 12' or so it might not have bent.
It should have had blocking or stands under the rear when loading.
A frame shop (one that does semi or large trucks) can
straighten it but it will have to be reinforced because it could
break or bend easier next time.

Did you block up the back of the trailer? If not, even with ramps, when all that weight went on the back of the trailer initially, it may have bowed the trailer.

I have seen a Bobcat being loaded, where the trailer was not blocked up in the back. As the weight got to be on the back of the trailer, it actually made the front of the trailer so light, that it lifted the back tires of the truck off the ground!

I have a 16 footer on which I carry a L3710 w/FEL. I've pulled on before but have to park such that the cutter hangs off the back about 2 ft to get decent balance (lots of chains for securing too). I never thought about backing it on, duh, but I think for better balance that might be the best option. You should consider that. The cutter will move the CoG back some but in my case it's clearly not enough since the trailer axles are pretty far back.

BWS-

Just out of curiosity, the trailer you borrowed - was it made from box steel or from channel?

I've posted that more than a couple times here but I was quoting my Dad from over forty years ago. Funny the things that stick with you... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Around here, if you smash it you drop it off at the owner's house and go hide. That's if it will make it back. If it won't you send someone else to tell the owner where to find it so he can haul it back himself. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
