Trailer Too Short?

/ Trailer Too Short? #21
There is a post under "build it" I believe, that shows a guy that figured out a way to attach a hitch ball to his backhoe near where the bucket would be. The hitch weight on a trailer is about 10% of the GVW. With the ball-on-a-hoe he was able to lift up the whole front end of the trailer and dump it out. He posted a picture of this. Pretty cool idea that would work to a point. You will be limited by the lifting capacity of the hoe.

If you need a short trailer for convenience then look at a gooseneck. They offer better load distribution and maneuverability. The area above the hitch offers a place to set your bucket so you need less length behind the truck.

Also figure a 7000 GVWR trailer will weigh a couple of thousand lbs. Leaving you with 5k, is that enough?
