Has anyone used a rear pull trailer or wagon on their 425?

I would like something I could use to move bark, mulch, tools, firewood, etc around the place. I would also like one with a bed large enough to hold sstandard 4x8 foot sheets of plywood, sheetrock, etc. lying down flat.

If ithe trailer were roadable so I could hook it behind my car to pick up things at the feed store, building supply, auctions, etc. it would be better as I don't have a pickup and it might be a while before I can get one.

Is anyone aware of anyone who makes such a trailer?

These are not roadable but are pretty nice lawn carts - I just got the trailer and I have a running gear (different brand) that I'm building a dump wagon on:

Country Mfg. web page

They are still on sale over their "normal" but the price has went up in the last couple of weeks (They were $750 + freight) Northern Tool also carries them I believe.

(BTW, I don't own a PT)

Have you tried Harbor Freight . They have a 4x8 trailer for $250.00 , that is foldable and can stand vertical. It is also street legal.

I had an old street legal snow mobile trailer that I used for a while. Worked fine but was too wide. I gave it to my brother in law.

The one that J.J. mentioned should do the trick. Very economical, too.

We have two old boat trailers on our property that I plan on using to haul stuff around on. They were free-bees.

Hi MossRoad, You have the base for a good trailer, just add a 4x8 sheet of 1/8 diamond plate to the boat trailer and add angle iron to all the edges. Just a thought.

<font color="red"> A new tilt-bed 6'x12' trailer like this only costs about $700.

It is roadable with 2" ball hitch on almost any car, SUV, or pickup.
It will carry 3000# ( the PT-425 only weighs half that much).
It does not need trailer brakes.
It loads and unloads easily.
My PT-425 tows this trailer OK even with a ton and a half of mulch on it.
It only costs $25 a year for a plate, and no insurance.

I've had those thoughts. Just don't have the time and $ to devote to every project. Saving for a new house, two kids, etc... I'm just lucky to have squeezed in a tractor purchase when I did! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fourteen

Do you know the brand of your tilt trailer? I have been looking for one at 5x10 or 12 and the best I can seem to find is $2540 for a single axle rated at 5,000 lbs with a net capactiy of 3,600 lbs.

Thanks

Bob

Hi MR -

I looked at that no-weld hitch and thought that was a great idea.

But I did something that was a bit less work; on my PT425, 2" hitch ball can be placed into the top plate of the hitch and the nut easily threaded on and tightened.

It does need a wrench or large pliers to install/remove, but there is no fabrication at all.

The only down side I've seen is that it would be possible to damage the PT's motor as on mine the motor is at the extreme rear of the tractor, just about 1/2" inside the steel plate.

If I do this a lot, I'll probably make a plate to cover the one ventilation hole to avoid doing that damage.

Most likely, though, I'll destroy the fan and THEN make the plate. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
