Hi guys i have a question is it possable to covert a say 10 or 12 ft transport disk to say 6 or 8 ft i ask this because my tractor is a 1070 j d and i need a smaller disk i see theas bigger disks at auction a lot for a good price is it easy to take off some pans or some how cut it down any help would be great thanks art

That would be a pretty good undertaking! It could be done. I buy the used wheel type 13 ft Allis Chalmers wing disc pretty cheap and then just remove the 4 wings and you have a nice 7-8 ft wheel disc left and plenty of spart parts for later. Ken Sweet

Probaly wouldn't be hard to cut the frame down but if you remove disk blades you will need to cut the axle down & rethread the end, plus see if you can move where the bearings attach to the frame. I would find a smaller disk, sounds like more work than I would want to tackle.

Here's my Minneapolis Moline KA1300 wheel disc ($600 from my Mahindra dealer). It's nominally 13ft wide and it's actually made by Krause.
I cut the outer two pans from each axle using my 4-1/2" angle grinder so I can pull it with my Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto).

It pulls OK on a dry field--we disc in early Oct when the fields are bone dry from 3 months of summer heat. If I want to use it in Spring, I'd have to remove more pans.
