Once you get a quote you may want to think about pocketing the money and selling the tractor as is. You may come out ahead and then buy a new tractor. Just a thought.

That is a good thought. I will have to consider that once I see what they are going to do. If that option plays out, I may just have a winter project to fix it myself and sell it in the spring. My hourly rate isn't $70/hr like the dealer and maybe I could talk my kids into helping and share my profits.

Wow, if I were you, I'd send a Christmas gift to your insurance agent or someone. Something like this typically isn't covered, as far as what I've learned anyway. I thought the general rule of thumb was that homeowners only covers physical structures and the contents within them, unless you have an add-on umbrella clause. That is excellent news that they're covering it.

When I got my tractor, I got a separate inland-marine policy for it, insuring it for replacement value under any circumstance. Hopefully I'll never need to use that policy.

Good on you and your insurance carrier. Happy you are covered. I will have to retract my rant about the integrity of the insurance industry.

If you choose to sell it, I'll tell my brother. He apparently likes fixing tree-damaged vehicles. This is his truck, which I sold to him for $1 after I pulled the tree off it.

This is kinda the after picture. The truck is all finished and my brother's been driving it for a year or so now, but he still hasn't taken the final "after" picture.:

Wow, looking at those pic's gives me a bit of a sick stomach. Glad your insurance company is stepping up. I have HO coverage also, but never got the warm fuzzies that it would cover an incident just like this. There was no extra charge to add the tractor to my basic policy, for example. So, a few weeks ago I called KTAC (Kubota Insurance) to get a quote. Received it in the mail about two weeks ago but never called them back to sign up. Think I'll be doing that this week just for the added piece of mind, plus knowing I'm covered off my property and when trailering. Let us know what the estimate comes back at.
