Mich.
The PVC pipes on each side are for chain storage. I need to replace the coupler on the left side. The tree got that too. The coupler adds some thickness to the top that holds up to the chain hooks. The plywood on the left side is for my chainsaw. Should have left it in the holder that day.

Off subject but what purpose are the two PVC tubes (mounted vertical next to loader)? Is this a type of storage bin?

Thanks

I do believe they are tree catchers. Sorry but I just had to say it.

New update. I have completed everything except putting on the rubber mat, the right fender and decals. Will have that done first thing on the morning. I am happy to report that I only have approximately 10 hours invested so far. Well under the 30 the dealer was going to charge me. I took it for a test drive down the drive so now it has 0000.1 hours on the meter. Here is a picture with my smile holding the new steering wheel. I also have many new parts that i didn't need. The dealer is going to charge me a 30% restocking fee which I consider excessive. I estimate about $500 worth of extras new in bag. I may try to sell them on eBay first

If this is the same dealer that was paid for the estimate, I'd lean on him some.

You probably have more than 10 hours on TBN telling yout tale than you did repairing it, good job!

I think since the dealer is the one who wrote the estimate, he needs to step up to the plate, E bay you are not going to get even a 70% return on your money.
Sounds like he is just mad he didnt get the repair

I am starting to have the same thoughts as you about leaning on the dealer. I had these extra parts even after scratching about $1500 of parts offs the original estimate I considered cosmetic. The morning I went in to the dealer to go over the order, the day I didn't feel welcome, I spent two hours looking at their list and trying to inspect that part on my tractor. I take some responsibility since I crossed off what I thought I wouldn't need. It would have been nice for them to have spent some time with me showing me what they had found but instead I got the cold shoulder. One example that kinda of irks me is that I scratched off a new hood (bonnet) but we failed to not order $50 worth of decals. One big ticket items was the controller (electronic). It mounts from the factory using just one of the two flanges it has. That flange broke and all I had to do was flip it around 180 degrees. I am going back this morning to get a new fuel cap (old one doesn't fit new tank) so I'll raise a little stink and see what happens.

Excellent job, too bad it had to happen but you came through. Thanks for posting as much as you did, it was like an ongoing story that we could check on every day. I enjoyed it, don't take that in the wrong way.

Thanks

I agree with what others have said about that dealer. And next time,
just have Messicks send you the parts.

It is official!

I am 100% finished and moving firewood as scheduled. Nice rainy day to break in all the new plastic. Power steering worked great under load. I had right at 15 hours in the assembly after decals and all. I also totaled the parts to return which was $565. They are all going back to the dealer Monday.

Thanks for everyones input during this process.

Jeff

Incredible transformation from the pics of a month ago. Well done!

Glad you are back up and running. Did you repaint the fenders? The pics look like there is yellow paint on them?

The fenders are stock. They look yellow because I am lazy and just took all these pictures with my iPhone (have the TBN app). The flash over exposes shiny items as compared to our real camera. I was concerned about the paint match with the new fender but it looks decent. Going to have to get it dirty and run it through the woods to scrape it up like the rest of the tractor :).

Good job.

That dealer sounds a little predatory. I, and maybe some others here in Southern Indiana, are wondering if it's our dealership you are dealing with.

 What a good example of dealing with a multi faceted problem head on and following thru to a very successful conclusion. Nice to see ! And great job !

Nice job. Looks great. Would never know accident happened.

I don't think Jeff wants a NEXT time! Or do you? Just kidding, I know what you mean about ordering from Messicks. I've used them a couple of times (bought my B3030 from them) and you can't beat their parts dept.

No next time please. I have looked up parts a messick's in the past. Do they charge sales tax an how much does shipping cost?

The only remaining defect from the accident is the puncture wound on the seat. I can live with that until my butt gets wet the first time.

There's always a next time for parts. Hopefully not as many at one time
as you just went through.

Technically, you will owe "use tax" to the great state of IN for anything you
buy out of state and have shipped to you. Assuming they don't collect
sales tax from you for your state. Most places don't. My insolvent state
charges as much as 10%, depending on what county or city you live in. You
are on your honor to report your out-of-state purchases. Officially, I
always pay my use tax.

I have found Messick's to be fast and reasonable on shipping, and they are
TBN member(s), too. I wish my local Kubota dealers were as reasonable.

I enjoyed this thread. Not your misfortune of course but just the thread in general.

Only hiccup so far is my old fuel cap doesn't fit the new tank.

Sorry but that made me laugh. I can just imagine...
All that work and then you go to put on fuel cap and it doesn't fit. "WELL "

LOL

30% restocking fee sux in my opinion.
