I bought a pedestrian trencher and the chain has frost tips on it--rotating cabide points. I'm hoping I can dig well in summer with this chain. Will it or will I have to get a different chain? I got a Ditch Witch 1330. Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problem digging any soil with that chain. The only thing you might notice is that chain in softer soil won't clean the bottom of the trench as well. Normally that isn't that critical. Most of the time you can dig a little deeper to compensate for the spoils left in the trench. I took care of a fleet of machines including 25+ "pedestrian" trenchers for 8 years. We ran "combo" chains, half shark teeth, half cup teeth. It was a good compromise, we got the carbide teeth for the hard soil, and the cup teeth for good clean out. All of our tire machines were set for 6" width and the track machines were set for 8" width.

Thanks Brain, I picked up a Ditch Witch 1330 for $1300. It's checking out ok I think. Motor runs fine, hydraulics fine. Chain is loose and I may be out of adjustment, I'm hoping it's ok to run this way. It droops down below bar 2-3 inches when about horizontal. Some of the tips were seized but I've got almost all of them free now with WD40 and a pipe wrench.
