Tresspassers and Cable Gates.

Steve -- Yep....the same thing happens to me. Posted signed get torn down and shot up...I just have to replace them. I've thought of trying to wait in hiding to catch these 'foes' but I'm afraid I would do something to them that I would likely regret. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

It depends on your property setup, but you might be able to use a "game camera" to catch 'em in the act. You'd have to hide it pretty good and make sure the flash isn't set to go off (dead giveaway), but if they are messing with your stuff during daylight hours, you might just have a "picture worth a thousand words"...

Thanks RanchMan....I'll look into those cameras.

AMEN, brother Ben, but you are preaching to the choir.... But beer bottles along the right-of-way... PLEASE... the buttheads that shot my gate threw their beer bottles thirty yards out into the field....

I have had all the problems you people have, little wretches swearing at my wife, rippin atvs, even out of control forest fires set by partiers. Once they threw some of my oak log benches into their fire. I have even seen the walls of wood torn right out. When I first moved in, some kids stretched a wire across my driveway. I used to get out of control, I thought of many ways to get them. Then I found out that many of them are in and out of jail, or their parents are in jail. It's easy for them to see when I am gone, and my compound is completely isolated. I figure if I really got them, they would simply come up when I'm gone and burn the place, vandalize or torchur my dogs. Now, 10 years later, I 'm content if the tresspassers stay out of view from my yard. Not much I can do, and things could be worse.

whoodle,

This unfortunately is sad testimony of how low our society has become....even when I was younger I recall nutty things I'd do but never did I think of destroying other's property for fun or hint of life threatening actions. News commentators now often talk about the evil of our times in various respects....this is one example of it. I sympathize with you.

I'll take my chances on drawing a penalty for "piling on" but wow whoodle that is a sad state of affairs. You see depictions of how city dwellers in "bad" parts of town feel like they are prisoners in their own houses but it is truly sad to see that extended into rural America. You are surely a victim of these "terorists" in every sense of the word.

rancar -

If you're intresting in a little construction and spending about 50% + of what they cost in the stores, you can "roll your own". I've built 3 off of these plans on my place and they seem to work pretty well. It will take a little more effort, but they're kindof fun to build...

Question on prosecuting treaspassers...

If "you" own the property, easy for you to decide what to do and obtain your signature, if needed.

Where I am, we also have many of these same issues. As the larger parcel of land today is currently in ownership of father in law and uncle in law...as time passes, it (land ownership) will progress ultimately 12 individuals, probably split even.

As only 2 of those 12 family members will be actually LIVING on the property (us and her cousin will move in next door), if I decide to go the prosecute avenue with treapassers, and we own 10% of the greater co-owned farm, can "WE" prosecute? or must we have ALL 12 siblings & cousins also join us on the effort? As they are in different states, one afflicted with chemical dependencies and such...an all inclusive effort would be essentially impossible.

Am I screwed?

It seems that popularity of ATV's is causing problems for many people. Here's a link to an article in today's Portland Press Herald reporting on the situation around here.
