Silly me thinking that you were new to plowing
I think a simple triangular or inverted T would be simple enough to build, catching your 2 lower pins and top link. The bottom obviously being where the push plate that accepts the 2 "ears" on the plow.
Were you thinking of a rigid setup - raising the plow with the 3pt?

I was thinking inverted T Mount made from box tube
Definitely using front 3 point to raise/lower/float and existing front outlets for power angling. I actually have an additional power up/gravity down remote, too.
Rigid top mount or chain better…..


Best of all worlds would be to leave existing mount tabs the way they are so it could be used on tractor and truck.
Im always thinking in Swiss Army Knife mode lol

I've seen a number of YouTube vids of tractors plowing snow in Europe. Considering how fast they're moving, they must have a pretty tall road gear

I do know that some brands/models do have a 'road gear' option, generally in the higher HP range models.

Local friend does rural private plowing and all his Kubotas are highway geared.

I expect most full sized utility tractors have a road gear...30-35 MPH, so they can travel reasonably fast between fields
CUTs, not so much...I think my 4052R tops out at 18 MPH (depends on the tire type and size)

One day it started on a backfire and had three speeds in reverse, one speed forward. (Or were they lying to me?)

I've heard stories from family members who way in the past had customers call in a panic because they did a tune up on their car and they had 3 speeds reverse, one forward. course, in those cases they had accidentally put the plug wires on incorrectly. can't confirm, but i assume it's true. i guess it would crank on the turn from the starter, then the plug firing would take over and it would spin backwards. maybe you could reproduce this on a backfire? i dunno... the cars were 2-strokes.

Road speed really helps when you have to get from one hay field to another with rain coming.
I remember the days of going 20mph between fields and losing precious minutes of baling time.
For snowplowing, it would be same thing.
Time is money.
I am seriously considering getting rid of both my small Kubotas (25mph) for another 30-35MPH tractor.

Found this 10’ Meyer plow and it’s local, but he wants $975. Looks kinda rough.
Might go have a look today. Never was a big Meyer fan, but seller says it does have a good cutting edge and a snow foil.

For those that have and those that are considering a truck plow on a tractor....dont forget a crossover relief to protect the hoses and pair of SA cylinders.

Truck plows seem to be cheap. And all the big players like Boss, Western, Meyer, Fisher, etc, etc are always re-inventing their mounting and thinking they have the next best thing. Landscaper/plowers are always upgrading their equipment. End result is you can usually find plows (blade only) pretty cheap. So if you are handy putting a truck plow on a tractor can be done pretty inexpensively.

Doesn’t Meyer use the “blue oil”? Can that be drained from cylinders and regular tractor hydraulic fluid used?

Imho, if someone offered me a Myers for free - I'd pass.
I doubt that the cylinders will care what color the oil is. Now they may have some special oil design for their pump with some kind of additive that might be helpful in a generally no maintenance situation (like a hardly used homeowner plow). But I've bought replacement angle cylinders by stroke and pin size. Never by specific manufacturer other than Fishers d/a cylinders. They may be available now in a "generic" version as well.

I was more concerned with the “blue oil” contaminating my tractor oil, if it ever made it back into tractor.
I could purge as much as possible from cylinders and lines.
I hear ya on the Meyer plow, but on this project, I’m just trying to put something to work to get the job done.
Would rather have a 10’ Western Heavyweight, but I can’t find any low price/older ones.

You'll need longer lines anyway, and with the line removed and you collapse the cylinder the little bit left....
What's your tractor hy/trans hold, 20-25 gallons?

As long as the Meyer comes with the optional "welder attached" package you'll be fine. Poking fun aside the commercial Meyers I bought, an ex-State of Maryland plow, is a different animal than the pick-up mount type blades I had in the past. It's made of much heavier stock and in the 3 years of my use I cannot detect any wear on the edge.

And at around fifty bucks each I'd replace the power angle cylinders anyways.

I'm not sure when, but Myers is now hooked in / bought by Diamond (or vice versa) and I believe has a new attitude that they better catch up with the rest of the crowd.
I remember as a kid about 45 years ago, seeing a Diamond (pickup sized) plow that iirc, puts the modern Fisher XV-2 plow to shame in its construction. It was a v blade that had the shorter middle and dramatically taller outside and the "wings" moved individually. I was very impressed as I admired it with my bicycle parked nearby .

I found exactly ONE 10’ Western Heavyweight in a week of searching and it was sold when I called. Unless I want to spend $2500++
Not much else out there. Guess demand is high since winter…

I hunted, shopped for a plow for my CUT and most every one was so trashy and over priced that I decided to DIY one.

OK, I did have an old industrial work bench so I cut that to size and had local shop form the blade
Also had them make the 'banana' ribs.
After scrounging my metal odds and sods I was able to DIY my own 7ft blade.
For lift I chain slung it from my FEL frame with the bucket removed for winter.
I even fashioned a back 'flip' back drag blade for squeaky clean back dragging.

As I recall my total cash layout was in the $200 range some 7 years back and it is still going strong and probably will outlive my CUT, and still rust free.
It is of the spring loaded 'flip style' design.
I did later modify it to have a wing or ear on one side to limit spills to only one direction and that sure saves time.
OK, the plow is for minor events as I have a 3pt blower as well.

That’s a great project!
I got an offer to road plow a large development to assist a big landscape contractor and need to be ready to go now. Luckily, it hasn’t snowed yet.
I already have a plow setup, but I always like a backup. The 10’ plow on the bigger Massey would be perfect on wide roads. One down the middle and one on each side.
