Trying to decide if to get the GR2110

Hello gentlemen. I am considering buying a new GR2110. I have 2 1/2 acres of grass with a pretty good sized hill to mow. My dealer priced me a price of $7,800 with the 54 inch deck. I have been researching about the 2110 on the net and I found several old post about transmission problems related to a brass washer? I am new to these and I couldn't figure out if it was talking about the model before the gr2110 came out? Does anyone know if the tractor says gr2110 on it would it be the upgraded version? My dealer has one on the showroom floor and I am not sure how long it has been sitting there. Is there anywhere on the tractor to find out what year model it actually is? I have several tight areas in my yard and some low limbs so I really don't want to go to a compact tractor. Could someone please help me out here. 8k is alot of money to be spending and I don't want to get something that is going to cause me problems.

I got a price of $7575 for the same mower this last june, so that't not a bad price you got. I also have some hills that I wanted 4 wheel drive for. I also priced out a couple of John Deeres. The Deeres were running quite a bit more, over $10,000 if you got the diesel. I ended up not getting the GR but got a BX2350. By the time I got all my implements, I ended up spending close to $15,000, but its also alot more than a mower. Don't worry about the low limbs, they come off with a chain saw. I know almost 8K for a lawn mower sound like alot, but you won't believe how well it works. I mow around 2 acres, and half of its hilly and often rough. My first mower ($1500) lasted about 3 years, the deck broke twice, and the steering was shot. My next mower was a lower cost Deere($5000). It was much better, but it struggled on the hills. If you buy a good one, it will last much longer and it will make mowing fun again for you.

Can't really help you with the specifics of the GR, sorry. If you ever think you need a tractor, now is the time to get one, you would be suprised how much more you can do and the end loader will do alot of work and save your back.

Near as I can tell the only ones with tranny issues were the 05 models.Anything on dealer lots now,either a 2100 or 2110 should be fine.My local dealer has a 2100 and qouted me 6400.The only difference on the 2110 is the new much improved seat design.I thought about trading my 2000 gas model,but it's holding up very well.Added a new seat from the B series line w/armrest kit and redone the seat mounts.Nice and comfortable now

My dealer quoted me $7,200 for the GR2010 (gas) and $7,800 for the GR2110 diesel with the 54" deck. I have called around a few other dealers just to check his price and so far he has been the lowest. From what I had read the GR2110 had the new HST transmission so I thought everything would be alright. I just wanted to check with some of you who are in the know because I just started researching this. I has also read of a problem with the glide steer and something about it not having enough power in reverse. I was hoping that this was on the models before the 2010 and 2110. Can anyone confirm this? How well does the 2110 climb hills with the turf tires? How nice of a cut does it give with the mulch kit option installed? Thanks for the replies

The GR2110 was new for "08, the sales brochure stated it had a "new improved HST" or something similar to that.

I went to a local dealer and took a test drive, man was I impressed.with the turning radius. They have a small hill on their property and it climbed like a billy goat. We hammered out a price of $7k.

While I was walking around the lot deciding to buy it when the sales guy said they had an '07 BX1850, the last "07 on the lot.

Anyway, long story short I got the BX1850 for $7900. I didn't need the BX, but for $900. extra who could turn down that deal.

Back to the GR. I still question myself, should I have purchased the GR?
My impression was that it is a great machine and a lot of bang for the buck

1*A sub compact for 900 more than a garden tractor is a no brainer if i ever saw one.
2*Certainly not.I purchashed 2 BX 1500s over the GR and G Kubota garden tractors and the JD x 700 series garden tractors.
Never looked back cause to me there's nothing to look back at.
3* You're correct/It is but it's not as much bang for the buck as you got on the BX1850.

The way to look at a sub compact tractor vs a mower is to ask your self will you do anything but mow the lawn with it. When I bought my BX2350, I thought it would be used mainly as a mower, next thing I know I'm buying a endloader and blade for it. We put in a swimming pool and I probably payed for 1/2 the cost of the endloader in a week. Do you need to worry about snow removal? I tried out a used G Kubota with a 60" deck, which is a two wheel drive garden tractor. It cut really good but it was lousy on the hills. Can you get the dealer to let you try it out on your hills? You wouldn't even have to spin the blades to see how it worked. Good luck with your search.

I've got a hundred dollars more in the 2 tractors in the foreground than I have in the BX23 setting beside the gray truck.
The tractor with the front blade also has a 48 inch tiller on the rear.

It will be used for mowing only and pulling a tow behind sprayer with booom. I looked at the compact series tractors and they just seem to be to big for my needs. I have alot of thight areas in my yard like up close to the house and fences as well as trees. I am afraid that if I went with a compact tractor, it would not cut up close to everything as well as the garden tractor would. Am I wrong on this?

The only real problem with a sub compact tractor in mowing around objects is the turning radius. It just doesn't turn as tight as riding mower. It will mow just as close to anything as a regular rider will though. You can also pick different size decks depending on your needs. It can also tear up the yard a bit more. If the grass is wet and soft, it will mark up the yard more. All that traction comes at a price I guess. You just have to learn to wait until it drys up. I would say on average it took me an hour and a half to mow and now it takes me an hour and fifteen minutes, not a huge time savings but a 60" deck cuts the time down some.

Another issue you haven't adressed is saftey. The 4 wheel drive, the ROPS (roll bar), and the saftey belt make me feel alot better about my 14 year old son mowing my hills.
