Tub Shower On Concrete Slab

Enough sand under the bottom of the p-trap to support the drain pipe against downward pressure if you should happen to push on it while putting the drain in.

Other than that, leave the box empty. You don't want to have to repair it, but if you have to you don't want to be chipping concrete out and possibly damaging the drain pipe.

Yes can place a layer of 4 mil plastic on the plywood deck, place the tub and do the concrete thing as mentioned, or do the concrete and set the tub on it.

ive seen contractors set fiberglass tubs on concrete and plywood .....they add a layer of plaster first then set tub. the plaster dries and sets tub tight.

Do the instructions say to set the tub in concrete? If so, fill with sand and skim with concrete. I'd want it supported.

I'm picking the tub up tomorrow, so we'll see what it says in the destructions.
