Brandi,
If you build a swivel knuckle, then just put quick connects on the bucket cylinder. Remove the bucket, install the digger. It will hang plumb. Remove those hoses from the bucket cylinder and attach to the hydraulic digger. Use the bucket digging lever on your right hand joystick to run the auger. You'll only need short hoses and no extra valve. Of course if you ran it all day, you will build some heat and might want bigger hoses, but a PHD is used for a minute or two, then the tractor is moved, then used again, etc. Heat shouldn't be a problem. We have done this.
Dave,
Thanks! I will look into that as I would feel better with the swivel mount. With it bolted onto the bucket, one has to eyeball the bucket postion to plumb the digger. If I run 3/4 inch hoses, the 6520's remote levers should be just to your left as sitting on the hoe and I figure will be in arms reach. Both ways have pluses and negatives. But I like the idea of the digger being controlled by the bucket lever. But I am leaning to the 3/4 hoses. I would run them as close to the hoe's hoses past the pivot and up the boom, then on the outside out to the digger, attached with bungee cord while digging post holes. At work, our 1/4" diameter air hoses run our aircraft tail jack way to slow. So we have some 1\2 air hoses that work good enough to keep up with the wing jacks, which use 1 inch air hoses. I think the bucket cylinder is using a 3/8 hose, which might just be too small.

Dave,
My salesman and I looked at the BH last week. We think we can pull the bucket cylinder lines back and install the quick disconnects, then add short lines back to the cylinder. :) The cylinder fittings are way down in the dipper stick frame and are 1/2 inch. The cylinder pin has to be removed to remove them easily. :( The digger should do fine with the existing size, but may run just a little slower than if we ran 3/4 inch lines. I will have to monitor it for heat build up.
I was told on Friday that my tractor will be delivered on Wednesday. :D If the creek doesn't rise.;) Then my dealer can install the backhoe

Congrats. I find I use my 12" bucket more. Easier to dig up stumps, etc, and for ditches, a lot less to back fill. But, the 24" works well for digging those bigger holes. Did you get the 509 or the 511 BH?

Slippy,
It is a 511. I will try to attach a photo of it sitting on the shipping pallet. The 12 and 24 inch buckets are sitting in front if it. Hopefully Thursday or Friday I will have photos of it on the tractor.

Well guys,
It has been three weeks since my dealer ordered my 6520 4WD. The backhoe came in 8 days later and the tractor came into Mahindra's Tomball facility the day before that, waiting for the skid steer loader to arrive. We are all still waiting on the skid steer loader.
On the plus side, ;) while waiting for the loader to get in, and recovering from elbow surgery, I realized I should get a PHD added to my tractor "package", since I am fixin' to built another corral and add fences. So since I have used a 3 point hitch PHD before and hated it, I decided to research a hydraulic PHD. Well, I found a Danuser PHD Model 8300-2 that can be bolted to the loader bucket in my target budget. But wait.....I have a backhoe. :) So we will be bolting the PHD to the backhoe bucket. Maybe later I will build a swivel knuckle to attach directly to the dipper stick. The hoses have to be way long, almost 20 feet. So Glenn Danuser, Yes, the same name as the company, called me today and stated I needed to run 3/4 inch diameter hoses. Has anyone else ran a hydraulic PHD that far from the pump? I did check the backhoe hoses today, that connect to the remotes and they look about 3/4 inch diameter.
I should be able to plant 4 post holes 8 feet apart without moving. Or add a hole in an existing corner of the barn or even plant a hole over a fence.
I should find out more details tomorrow from Rake Sales about the backhoe thumb they will be making. They quoted a price of around 600-700 dollars. Bradco wants $925 and that is with their thumb backplate already welded on my hoe's dipperstick. :(
hugs, Brandi

I will be getting a Bradco thumb. Rake Sales quoted me a $695 price and $250 to design and install it, using Bradco's existing backplate . I would have to take the BH to them and the thumb would have to come off completey when digging, but it would be fitted to the 12 inch bucket. Bradco's thumb teeth meshes with it's 18, 20, and 24 inch buckets, but the thumb can be stored on the BH when not in use. So it is cheaper for the Bradco thumb and I can bolt on a hydraulic kit later if I choose. The Bradco thumb is a kit, so I will have an extra backplate. So I will use the 12 inch for digging stumps and sewer lines and the 24 inch bucket for everything else. I will just have to wait and see how the thumb and 12 bucket will work.

Ahhh...very nice. I have the 511 also. It is a beast of a machine, great digging power and lots of reach. If I can make a suggestion, and part of it I will admit is self serving; arrange to be there when they hook it up to your tractor. Don't know, but I suspect your dealer will be putting on the sub frame. After thats on they will put on the back hoe. Take pictures as they mont the back hoe. This will help you later when you go to take it off. The self-serving part is that I am interested to know if they have improved the hook up process. Most of us w 511s take off the check chains or connectors to the lower 3pt arms to make room for the hoe. Just wondering if they changed that. Some I think actually take off the lower arms all together. Would love to see some pictures of your set up.

I also assume you will be using the tractor hyd to run the hoe. I have a 6000 and have never had a problem running the hoe. I did hit my knee on the relieve valve once and drained out some oil. Hoe started jerking so I stopped and looked around and found a puddle of oil under the hoe. Thought I broke a hose, but traced it and found I just opened the valve. Filled it up and back to work. Always good to have a 5gallon jug of hyd fluid.

With mine, I have learned exactly where the spot is that allows draw of the dipper stick, the boom and the curl the bucket at the same time. It is slow on mine at that point, but with your extra gpm in the 6520, it should be better.

Good luck, enjoy, and be safe.

You will be happy with this set up unless you operated a larger back hoe for a living.

Enjoy, and be safe.

Slippy,
Since the salesman moon lights (at night) installing backhoes and loaders for fishing money, I am not sure if I will be there for the installation. I plan on having them show me how to detach and attach the BH and the FEL, so I will take photos then. I have been told the lower 3 PH arms do not have to come off. We will see. I haven't heard anything about the stablizers having to come off. I have thought about fluid loss after reading it here somewhere. I know from renting that wore out Kubota 3400 TLB and a new, sweet Bobcat mini-excavator that digging kinda of gives you tunnel vision and not enough scanning the tractor.
I know the 511 will be better then the two rentals mentioned above. The Bobcat mini-excavator is a workhorse, but it is just too slow crawling for my needs

I got to climb all over it and drive it this morning at the dealer.:) But, it won't be delivered till Monday. Top Flight hopes to have the subframe and hoe on tonight, but for other reasons;) ...............delivery will wait till Monday. Since I have a sinus cold  right now, I get to rest up two more days before I see how many stumps I can dig up in one day. There must be a record somewhere I can bust. Besides, the grass needs to be mowed and I only got 2.3 hours on my Hustler FasTrak mower.
