"You forgot about how the "multi-national corp" got there!"
Around here in the '60's (for a time line) the whole state was white.....with cotton. 3000 farming acreage family, from which this comment originates, was running popular red and other farmers in the area were also running green. Local (closest) green dealer was owner/operator/field service tech, problem solver and all that from his store about 65 miles distant.
He was in the field with the farmers on a daily basis getting first hand info on what they needed, problems, supply chain problems and all that good stuff. Today he is a millionaire and the company that bought him out has stores over a wide area of Texas: agpower.com.
Red dealer went out of business maybe 30 years ago and today the guy is dead and the dealership is only selling/servicing Navistar OTR trucks (as it did then under the International badge, besides tractors) but nearest red dealer is 30 miles away and is a mergered CaseIH dealer.
I get my tractor batteries at the Navistar store. Last one I bought sometime last fall was Size 31, ⅜ stud terminals, 925 CCA, $75. Has a skid full of them sitting out in the lobby in front of the parts counter. They even take it to the truck for you and get your dead one. They do custom cables too and at a similar great price.
