Wow...I don't belong in this thread at all, but that's never stopped me from commented before. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
While I know that statements such as " oil is oil" aren't correct, my experiences lead me to believe that any oil is better than no oil, or grease for that matter. Don't get me wrong, when it's time to change fluids, I try to follow manf recomendations. But when hoses leak and dipsticks are low I pour in what is at hand (within reason). The whole synthetic vs dyno threads are lost on me, as is the sudt vs udt. Perhaps I've spent too much time in refineries and have witnessed the small scale/specialty lubricant packaging methods employed. They make the meat packing industries look sterile.
While my approach is certainly crude, (no pun intended) I've NEVER had an engine fail, or dog on me (carbs excluded). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Now, from your post I read:
"Now I learn I should have actually used Super UDT instead."
Why??? Really, I'd like to know. Obviously not a warranty issue, as work was performed by Kubota.
"Whats the differnace?"
I don't know either, but am less impressed with the marketing terms such as "super."
"...would you swap it out now?"
After 12 hrs??? I'd run it til it was black, and then swap it into my lawn mower.
There are many who will disagree with me, and they are likely better armed with lab analysis and expert commentaries. But then again, they are spending your money, not their own.
FWIW, I'd relax, keep it lubed, the bolts tight, follow the service schedule, trust your dealer, and enjoy your fine tractor.
