I'm looking to replace my Cub Cadet lawn tractor this year with a Zero Turn
The Ultima series looks to be a well build machine.
Does anyone have any experience with this yet? I know it is a newer machine.
And I have just one more question.
Are the front wheels on the Cub Zero turns solid or pneumatic tires?
I have fairly rough terrain and am a bit concerned about a rough ride.

I also am looking at the Cub Cadet Ultima series. Went to a dealer yesterday and looked at the ZT2 50 inch cut. Doesnt look like the front tires are solid. I thought I saw a valve stem on it. Will probably get it this week.

Please post back with your observations. From the pictures I have seen online I can't tell. I have a bit of a rough yard and I don't know if a solid tire will give me a ride I can live with.
The pictures I have seen make them look fairly large. That would be a plus.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Front tires are air filled. Picking mine up tomorrow morning. Getting the ZT2 50 inch.

Great. Thanks for the update.
I"m hoping my Cub dealer will take my old LT in for a trade. Not too worried about what he will give me, if he takes it that would be fine.
Trying to sell it outright would be a pain in the arse. I live in a small community with absolutely no traffic; no one to see it.

Got it home. I have NEVER driven or even sat on a zero turn. This is going to be fun. Did drive it around the back yard for awhile. Little bit of a learning curve. Was pushing when I should be pulling. LOL, almost hit a tree. That was funny. Only messed with it for about 20 minutes. Got it off the trailer without too much trouble. Can't tell too much yet. But I have all summer.

I had the wheel motor off my zero turn and accidentally put the hoses back on backwards. Now that was an entertaining ride. And in most circumstances you want both wheels turning the same direction at all times. A lot of people like to pivot turn by stopping the inside wheel and that wears circles in the grass. Some people like to jerk the inside wheel backwards which reduces the time required to turn but it tears up the grass. I treat my ZTR pretty much like a steering wheel vehicle.

Looks good.
Several years ago I worked retail and had a chance to drive a Toro Zero Turn. I nearly put it in the pond behind the store. That was my only experience with one.
My brother in law bought one last year, a small Husquavarna and it has tiny front wheels which are solid. He said the ride is horrible. My yard is much rougher than his so I am staying away from any small wheeled machine.
I do like the price point of the Cub Cadet though but the Toro has a suspension ride....it's also a bit more money.
I have a good relationship with the local Cub dealer and I really want to stay with that. I am in no hurry since my old machine still works and I also have a Kubota B2320 with a finish mower that I can use.....after June when the ground is dry enough to not tear up.
If my yard was perfectly flat I would probably stick with the Kubota to mow. But here in the Ozarks the top soil is a very thin layer over ledge rock and the heavier Kubota just tears it loose from the rock until it has dried out.
That in a nutshell is why I need a small, lighter machine but still of sufficient size.
Let me know after you start cutting this year. I am still interested but I am not sure if it will fit the budget this year. I need to replace my truck and that may make finances a bit tight.
Good luck with the beast.

Hey Willy. The reason I have this is to cut out what I can't get to with my Mahindra 1533 and 6' finish mower. My driveway is 1/4 mile long gravel with only about 3 feet of grass on either side with either fencing or a hillside. Can't use the finish mower there. A lot of trees and along the fence line. Should be a fun summer.
