Underground hose extension

I think there may be codes about sewer and water in the same trench, especially about water UNDER sewer lines.

If there was ever a problem with the septic line AND the water line (pretty big odds I think) you could end up siphoning back into your house.

With that said, I would run a water under septic and put in a check valve at the point I tied in the branch line. You could even place some concrete extending a few feet on either side of the septic line for additional insurance.
I'll be running hose bibs to the horse troughs and will install a check valve in the pump house cause I know the wife is gonna leave the hose in the trough. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A few years ago, in our area, I learned that you could run a waste water or sewer line under a water line, but if you went over a water line, the waste water line had to be encased for 10' on either side of the water line.

I used a middle buster or a subsoiler connected to a curved iron pipe to bury a black flexible pipe about six inches in the soil. It worked very well. I got the idea off a thread in TBN posted several years ago.

Tried to find it; maybe someone else knows the right keywords. There are photos in the thread.

A few years ago, I extended a water line out to a new shed about 200 feet from the closest spigot. I ran 1 1/2" black well line. At the house side, I connected a coupler that then has a hose connector screwed in. I then made up a short length of garden hose about 8" with female ends on both. This allows me to connect to a 2 way brass splitter at the spigot and allows some fexibility when connecting the line for the season. At the shed side, I made up a connector that has a coupler, then a 6" length of pipe, then a air hose connector, another 6' pipe and than a boiler spigot. I fatened this to a piece of pressure treated wood that I fastened to the side of the shed. If I had a digital camera I would post pictures, sorry!
Around the end of November, I disconnect the lower end at the house and blow air through the line using the air fitting and a normal compressor. Blows the line out in 1-2 minutes, and I don't worry about any freezing. The line is only 8" deep. Works very nicely for me and only cost about $25 in plumbing fittings. I plan to run a similar line this summer out the front of the house to my orchard.
Good Luck!

Big Eddy,
That was my original "plan", but I was afraid that the water inside the hose would freeze and burst the hose. Maybe I'm worried for no good reason.
Thanks

That's exactly what I want to do.
Thanks for the description!

Here's a photo of the blowout hose I made. The left end is a quick connect and works like any air tool with my compressor quick connect fitting. The right end works just like a garden hose and will connect to any standard faucet fixture.
