When I changed the cracked-up 15 year old plastic hood on my 4600, I noticed that the old plastic was quite brittle. With the new hood, I try to never park the machine out where it will get a lot of sunlight. Ultraviolet light may eat away at the plastic. Just a theory. Still, the sunlight never does anything any good.

Crud - I just realized that the 2210 does not have individual steering brakes on the rear wheels! Am I wrong about this? Was that an option?

You won't find individual brakes on the 2210, 2305 or any of the newer 1000 series units. You would have to move into a 2000 series, and then the dual brakes are on the left side. I think in may cases, it really isn't an issue. The problem came about when they removed the direction control off of the dash on the 300 series tractors. After 10+ years of having a 318, I found the dash control a real PITA because I would run out of hands plowing snow; one for the hydraulic controls, one for the steering and one for the dash mounted motion control. Going to pedals was a great improvement to me. Deere probably felt that the use that most of the smaller machines were subject to, didn't necessitate more than a single common brake pedal.

I agree that the dash-mounted hydro lever on the 300 series leaves you short on arms. Letting go of the wheel now and then to work the blower controls isn't too bad, but it would be better if something could be run with a foot. I've always had concern that running the hydro from a foot may not have a very precise speed control like the dash control does.

Much more precise control with the foot pedals.. having had both, and also the foot clutch and hand clutch.

That's nice to hear. I've only been running the 318/332 for about 25 years! I'll get by without the steering brake. Having a differential lock will make up for it.

I don’t need or rarely need separate brakes on the 2210. Growing up with many older farm tractors and having separate brakes I thought I would miss it but nope. The 4wd pulls you where you want to go with the right weight distribution. I also just switched to VersaTurf tires and they are really great all around in the snow.

I don't understand why I see more used 2210s than the 2305. The 2210 was built from 2003-2005, then the 2305 from 2006-2010. Twice as many years for the 2305.

Is there a way to know how many of each model were made?

Look what came home with me today! 297 hours, with heated cab, forks, blade, bucket, 62” mower deck, powerflo triple bagger. That’s the 332 I’ll be upgrading from in the background.
