Yes. exactly. Kubota's TLBs are not a true commercial machine, but tending that way and more heavily built throughout. That is what makes them more expensive than tractors with add-on loaders and backhoes, and the higher price is why you see fewer TLBs than Tractors. On the TLB, the backhoe is standard and the 3pt hitch is an attachment. On tractors it's the other way around.
Sounds like the guy knew what he was doing. His work seems more landscaping than growing crops or gardening, so he got the right tool for the work you describe even if it did cost more.
Does his backhoe have the hydraulic thumb option? If so, there's the price difference right there.
Thanks for the input. No hydraulic thumb. That being said, I put out a small garden every year so I use a 5 foot 3pt tiller. Is a B26 ok for that kind of usage? I plan to do a lot of straightening up on my 6 acres property and maybe even expand my pond. I also bush hog about 2 acres of grass a couple of times each season....
