Looking to buy
Hey all,

Trying to decide between a 2013 Kubota B3200HSD with 72in deck and loader 203 hours ($18,000) and then a JD 2025r 2020 with 120 hrs and 60in deck and loader ($20k ask). I have 6 acres with 5 that would need tending too. Parts a the yard around the shed/garage/house with another section that gets left to grow for brush hog and it's a hill. Not like a crazy hill but it's an incline. Would be needing for landscape work and then when it snows to help with that and box blade to tend to my driveway also. Are these both wise choices? Ideas on price and should I go with more HP like 30 or above or is 23-25 good? Appreciate everyone's help.

I personally prefer 25 hp or less. Above that they add computers, diesel particulate filters, etc. The simpler it is the less to go wrong. I find for my 10 acres the size is about perfect.

Above...
You can try pricing a lower HP new tractor. You might be surprised on affordability.

I think a 25 hp tractor would be appropriate for the intended use and size of property. Something like a Kubota L-2502 or equivalent other brand. But not a subcompact 25 hp, something with more weight, frame and tire size like I suggested.

Have you sat on or operated either of the tractors? You might find that one of them just fits you better.

What dealers are in your area? Will they even talk to you if you visit them?

Of the two above I would probable look harder at the Deere being 7 years newer but that is just me.

I have both dealers close within a 10 mi radius too. I have not operated either one. I can go check on the 2025r pretty easily but the other is older and not close to me sadly.

Look for the Ask Tractor Mike YouTube channel if you haven't found it. He is in Missouri also and has a lot of good advice.

I bought my used CK3510 sight unseen and have some minor regrets. I did have a great buying experience and paid for delivery. So do as they said above and kind the tires before you sell a kidney. Also agree with the above that a "big" tractor with the 25 horse is a real sweet spot. You can turn them up too if you are into that.

Read up on the pros and cons of belly mowers vs. rear finish mowers if you haven't already. Neither of them are bad, but one might work better for you than the other. I prefer the rear finish mower.
