Uses for extra Quick Hitch Top Hooks?

Sadly the "bit more expensive" Land Pride, which looks pretty much identical to the one I got at Harbor Freight, is $550. It does have a nice auto latching feature on the lower pins. While I don't think I should have to screw around to make a "compliant" QH work with "compliant" attachments, I don't think I'd be spending anywhere near $450 in modifications.

Think I gave $119 for my BE QH1G..

Sadly I have no ability to weld anything. No education in welding, no welder. As a newbie to tractors and tractor "things", I'm quite amazed at the lack of standardization in "standardized" NEW attachments including NEW quick hitches.

My JD iMatch is from 6 years ago, before the adjustable height top hook became the norm... anyway, I have a few Cat 1 implements that don't quite fit so I use an 'extender' to reach. I simply swap the extender between the infrequently used implements as required (ballast roller and landscape rake = both inexpensive Chinese manufactured)

To prevent the hook end from possibly coming out, I employ a gate chain as a 'curb chain' underneath.

This point had been expressed over and over and over by many, many, many people but nobody see's that when first buying cheap Chinese design quick hitch..... Buy because its cheap, and then spend more money to make it work instead of just buying better design (bit more expensive) to start with...

What is your definition of "a lot more expensive"? Because the difference between $99 vs. $376 (JD QH posted above) sure as heck isn't it.

A "BIT" more expensive may be $119 instead of $99, "bit" more is certainly is not $276 dollars difference...Please read it correctly...

We all know JD stuff is priced way out of line of fair marketing prices.... That is why I buy all the repair parts for my JD riding mower in after market... For example 3 STENS spindles for mow deck $70 (total for all three) aftermarket, JD pricing $56 each ($168 for three) ... Funny thing its same spindle from 3rd party... Same thing with blades for mow deck, I can buy Oregon brand blades that are about half the price of JD blade and get at least two cutting seasons out of Oregon brand where I was getting only one season with JD brand blades....

JD never does anything "standard" just look at their front end loader bucket quick hitch system. I believe the JD quick hitch used a non standard 16" spacing for the top hook before it went to an adjustable top hook.

I believe the problem is not with the quick hitches but with the lack of respect for the 3pt hitch standards when they build attachments and we can't forget that we are the exception. most people do not use quick hitches so the implement makers do not care if they are a little off. It will work for 95% of buyers.

My brand new pronovost snow blower is at 19" between the lower and top pins so I had to put my hook on upside down.

I am working on a solution to eliminate the need for the bushings in the lower pins. It will basically be a u shaped "bracket" that will take up the slack between the 1.5" slot and the 7/8" pin.

And Land Pride is even more way out of line of fair marketing prices, at least for their QH. The QH10 (top hook not adjustable and Cat 1) is $450 - $475 IIRC, the QH15 (adjustable and Cat 2) at about $550 IIRC at the Kubota dealer. Makes the JD seem reasonable at $376 yet it is still twice to over 3 times the cost of most QHs I see.

Just picked up a H-F QH. Price went up after 2021. With a 20% off coupon, it came to $111.

There is a good review of many QH brand products out on YT. The H-F QH holds the line with the big brand names.

As farmers, we are dirt poor as it is. Getting a savings is like gold nuggets found.
