I don't think you will be able to run a 6" chipper with a 23 HP tractor.I previously had a BX25 with a Wallenstein 4" chipper. That was the maximum size that the dealer reccomended for the horsepower.
Well I'm going back to the dealer today. After considering all the advice, I'm strongly leaning toward a B2620 and just biting the bullet and getting the BH65 from Kubota. There's just no clear winner and it seems either one would do a good job. I know the B would do better but the BX is such a good deal!
After hearing all the advice, I'm strongly leaning toward the B.
1*I was looking at an after market back hoe that mounts to the 3PT hitch.
2* but it might b a good compromise for the Wallet.
I previously had a B2410 (smallest of the B series) with a Woods 6500 subframe mounted backhoe and have used my fathers BX. For a lawn mowing machine the BX with turf tires would be more manueverable than the B. Once you get off road the small BX tires, limited ground clearance and underneath fan really limit the BX.
How big are the stumps you want to pull up? If the trees are only 1-3 inches you may be able to just pull them out with the drawbar. If they are 12+ inches you will be spending lots of time digging around them to pull them out with either tractor. Can you skip the backhoe and rent a mini excavator for the tree removal project.
I agree with the others. A backhoe can really stress the back end of a tractor. I would onlu use a subframe mounted backhoe on that size machine. I also used a Wallenstein BX42 with the 2410 (18 pto hp). It worked but really didn't have the power for full 4 inch logs.
