Using an L6060 With Stationary Implements

My method L6060 with air suspension is a rock. It doesn't take a large boulder. I put the rock on the seat, turn on the pto, run it up to the speed I want and go. All of my stationary PTO work has been running grain augers and there has always been something handy for weight so I haven't needed to tote a weight with me.

OK - so you have a new, yet to be received, cabbed Kubota with OEM air ride seat.

The solution is simple - tell the dealer that if he doesn't know how to legitimately operate stationary PTO implements, he has two choices - obtain the info from Kubota corporate or you will be looking for a brand that will operate stationary PTO implements.

The idea that you will not be able to operate stationary PTO implements legitimately - is a notion beyond ridiculous. It would be a cold day in H*LL when I would pay premium price for a new tractor and have to put a rock on the seat so I could operate stationary PTO implements.

Likewise, I SERIOUSLY doubt that this is what Kubota has in mind either.

I seriously doubt that this is an idea supported by OSHA or any other state or federal safety organization either.

It can be done. I remember reading the procedure in my owner's manual but do not have the manual in front of me at this time.

I made a 5 minute effort to defeat the seat safety switch on mine without success. Simply unplugging the connector will not work, nor will shorting the switch out. Apparently, the computer looks for a make and break. Eventually, I want to defeat the switch on mine so that the engine does not shut down when I stand up (or even lean to the side to look over the top of the tire) while mowing.

Let us know when you figure it out.

OK. This thread reminded me that this was still on my list of things to do.

Prior to today, I have given this task only 3-5 minutes and tried only the most easy potential solution. Today I resolved it for ROPS models with the spring suspension seat.

There are two seat switches on the ROPS model, a flip switch and a presence switch. The flip switch is externally accessible but the presence switch is accessible only after removing the plastic cover beneath the seat cushion. I found it easiest to unplug the presence switch connector, remove the two pivot bolts and take the seat assembly to the work bench. Rather than tie wrap/tape, etc., the switch closed, I unplugged the two spade connectors, crimped together a jumper assembly and shorted the wires together.

I can now stand, lean or dismount the tractor with the PTO operating and the engine does not shut down.

I expect that a similar technique will work with the air suspension seat but I cannot tell you how to access the presence switch.

I doubt that it's OSHA or other federal or state regulations (yet) but rather the plaintiffs bar.

I zip tied the switch lever down on my old L3200.

Still trying to figure it out like you are for my L4060hstc with air ride. I have a PTO generator I'm rebuilding & will want to run without me in the seat at some point. The cab negates my need for standing & the lack of clutch means I can just turn the key to start it without that clutch sensor.

Fallon- Did you ask your dealer about it? I'm just dumbfounded that Kubota didn't come up with a work-around for the air-ride seat.

No I haven't yet. I never remember when I'm at the dealer. As my PTO generator isn't rebuilt & operational yet I haven't really had an urgent need to figure it out. Yet.

It seems this issue has been around for awhile and was discussed in an earlier post:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ota-l4060-lifting-seat-pto-3.html#post4820109

The quote from Kubota was an eye opener:

"I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your machine. Unfortunately, installing the air ride seat will disable the stationary PTO feature as is stated on the front page of the installation instructions for the seat. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

It looks like the rock or log on the seat, as suggested by other posters, will have to do until I can find a better idea!

IMO, this is like buying a Cadillac Escalade only to find you can't pull a trailer with it.

Wow, that's a total botch by Kubota.

I guess they expect if you opt for an expensive seat, you will be spending your time sitting in it... LOL
