Using jump start battery for main tractor battery

hey all. i have a kubota b3200 tractor and was wondering if you could use a 12v 22amp hour agm battery for running in the tractor in place of the original battery. this battery is out of a Jump N Carry jump box. it will start up to 10 dead cars before it won't start any more cars.

i have used it on my own personal car when the alternator quit working on a trip and when i applied brakes to stop the engine quit running the car battery was so discharged. i jump started the car, left jump box attached and drove it 12 miles (20 min. trip) using brake light also, to repair shop.

do u think this kind of battery would work in a tractor? just curious.

Sure you could use the little battery. I would not, because even in the south, it take a lot of current to start a diesel in winter. Second, the starter will have to draw more current because of the voltage drop.

I think you would shorten the life of the jump battery. It was not intended to be cycled like a starting battery. Also, the diesel will draw more amps than a gasser. It is better on your equipment to have more amps available in a battery than not enough.

I wouldn't think that would work for long.

That said I use a U1P-7 275 cranking amp lawn tractor battery in several applications including my 24 HP JD and have for years. Ran 1 in my Mustang for 5 years and had to replace it with same. Have had one on my gate opener with a 30w solar charger for over 3 years and the one in my tractor is about 3 years old. < $30 at wally world.
