Using Links with Brushhog

Attached is a diagram of various links and stabilizers - the setup is similar to my 8N, except I have just one stabilizer that connect to the right rear axel (doesn't have one on the left).

Is it recommended to keep the top links (A and B) connected when using a brushhog? The drawbar will obviously be removed, but I been told by some not to use the links and others say it is OK.

I believe there was mention that using the hydraulics with the links attached can do some damage to the links???

If you leave the links A@B on and you try to lift the three point hitch it will bend them. Larry

Don't use links A and B. The three point hitch is designed to have upward float, these bars are there to prevent it. Which is what you need with you are pulling a trailer. You could not lift or lower your brush hog with the straps on.

On my Bush Hog I use the A & B link to the rear axle under the finder brackets, to keep the side to side movment to a minimum. The mower itself has a chain that goes from the top link attachment point to the rear near the mower wheel to alow the mower to float.
