Utility trailer deck replacement

/ Utility trailer deck replacement #11
I had to buy a 5 x 10 because the trailer is 5 wide. $280. PT would have costed ~ $60 so metal was $220 more. Since I use the trailer for hauling construction debris occasionally on small urban jobs, I figured it would be worth the extra cost to ensure nails and screws don't fall through the cracks in the lumber.

I was curious because I want to close the center of my car trailer and have not priced it yet, I hear the tariffs are playing heck on the price of steel.
Thanks!

I recently did my 5x10 also. I went from PT deck boards to expanded metal. I had to add some lengthwise support. The metal cost $120 so about double the cost of the wood.

The reason I did this is I plan to try and double the trailer as a dirt seive. Haven't finished the vibrator part of the project yet.

I love dual purpose stuff!

I did an equipment trailer once in treadplate using surplus steel, the one thing I remember is how much quieter that trailer was when you hit bumps or took it down a bumpy road without the boards ratteling around.

Once your "traction" gets filled up with snow, ice or mud, you no longer have traction. Otherwise, would work great in favorable conditions.

Have seen lots of machines slide off trailers because they lost/couldn't get traction.
