the widshields are nice for the wind but my buddy found out that when mudd riding they suck.lol they get covered with mud and as you know utv's don't come with windshield washers unless you carry bottles of water like i do. he had to make a few trips back to his house to rinse off the windshield on his rhino . i told him to carry a garden spayer and use it to wash the windo when it got to muddy i think he's gonna iether take the window off til summer or get a sprayer.

i would make that winshield in two parts so that way you could fold down the top half when mud riding. all the rainx in the world won't keep it from getting muddy . if you make it in two parts atleast you can fold it down when it gets to muddy and still see.

When it's cold and windy the windshield can make the difference between riding or staying home.
Rain x does wonders at keeping your view clear when its raining.

Do the UTV's with full cabs have window washers? Or do you just not use them in the mud?

The deluxe cab for the gators has windhield wipers but no washer. I'm sure you could add one easily.
I've seen wipers installed on the polycarbonate windshields.

you would have to have a huge tank for the water.it's not like a truck where you can stick your head out the window. unless you just have the windshield and no doors then you can stick your head out the side.lol windshields are nice just rig up a water spraying device to get some water on there . a cheap on would be a garden sprayer in the back and just give it a squirt and a squeegie .

I was wondering about that. The cab doors I have noticed on UTV's have no way to roll a window down so when it gets covered in mud you are blind and have to hop out and use the wifes shirt to clean the windows:)

So cabs really are not that good if you want to play in the mud any amount. I have no plans for a cabbed UTV anytime soon as I want as easy access in and out as possible but who knows. Maybe in the future a nice cabbed UTV would be nice during the winter for hunting season. Maybe something like Mikeys turbo RTV but with tracks so I can buzz around all the property and see what is moving or so I don't have to worry about dragging the deer to solid ground:D

yea a nice glassed in one would be nice. i wouldn't put no wiper on a poly windshield man when you kick that thing on it's gonna be like swooshin sand paper around on the window. . best thing to do is put a half and half windo that way when your mud ridin you can put the top half down to see and when you get some water you can wash it off . but if you go to rubbin mud on a poly window you can kiss it good bye.if it ain't glass don't wipe it clean. if it's poly you better spray it off.

RTV1100 comes standard with windshield wiper and washer. Also, windshield is real glass.

Skip,

Thanks for the link. I like how they used the stick and Sharpie to draw the contour of the hood. I think I will check around for a good price on a piece of Lexan and start work. Those wire loom clamps are what is used to hold the roof on mine. I will probably try to find some type of molded padding or trim to put around the bottom edge. This would be a winter only windshield just for blocking that cold wind.

I was figuring if any of the UTV's did the 1100 would be the one

Before I got my 1100 I was all worried about if I could take the doors off. Figured I would take them off for the summer. Once I got the machine I was relieved that the doors can be quickly removed. As I have had the machine for a few months I have yet to remove the doors and doubt I ever will. Its no big deal getting in or out. The enclosed cab keeps me cool in the summer, keeps the bugs and dust out of the cab. In the winter it keeps me warm and keeps the snow out. I live in upstate NY where the weather can range from minus 20 in the winter to the high 90's in the summer. Maybe its just that I am getting older but I am not much for braving the elements anymore. I love the cab.
As far as the side glass getting muddy, not an issue on the 1100 as the bottom part of the door is solid and the top half is glass.

This is exactly what I want to say when I hear guys complaining about the price. Yes 15k is alot of money, but look what you get; factory cab with certified ROPS, heat, a/c,real curved glass front, side and rear window, windshield wiper and washer, hydraulic dump, hydro tranny, pre-wired for stereo with speakers and antennae installed, horn, bench seat with storage, big brushgaurd, car-like dash. Plus all this stuff is factory, not bolt on or after market so not only does it function well, it looks good and doesn't rattle. So, in this case, you get what you pay for.
