Thanks. It all makes sense to me now. The sounds would change due to the broken pieces of ceramic moving around. While it was still running okay, I would look around for a loose heat shield and there are alot of them on this truck. I never had a catalytic converter go bad before.

Being on a fixed budget, I am just glad I don't have to deal with emission testing especially for the limited amount of miles I actually put on the truck.
