you have been working with the "FDA intimately" for 25 years, and the FDA has FAILED (problem has gotten worse instead of better) to protect us from "illegal counterfeit drugs", why should anybody "put a single
grain of faith in your opinion on this subject....."

one other question, since you make all these claims, you must have proof/evidence/fact ! on your side, especially against your favorite boogey man Wal-Mart, why haven't I seen the usual "perp walk" of Wal-Mart executives on the evening news, besides how does Wal-Mart counterfeit Wal-Mart Oil, guess they use Sears oil in Wal-Mart Containers ;)

P.S. Wal-Mart oil, (you remember the original topic) does the FDA (and Skypup) have jurisdiction ?, guess if you use it for constipation :D

LOL :D

Since you are being so bone headed about this, I'll site an example.

Astrazenica : Their corporate office is based in the UK... by your reasoning.. they are an unsafe non legit counterfitter drug company right???? IE.. if I run down to my corner walgreen's and get my prescription for nexium or crestor filled ( for example ).. then I'm getting their drug.. made by an internation drug co. based in another country. Which by your definition will be unsafe....

"Drug makers in Europe are working to stop the counterfeit trade in medicines with a pilot program planned for next year using two-dimensional bar codes and tamper-resistant packaging.

Arthur Higgins, Bayer AG's head of health care and president of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, said he aims to have the secure supply-chain system operational in one country by 2008. If successful, it would be rolled out to other markets.

Drug companies are becoming increasingly concerned about bogus drugs getting into the distribution system, potentially posing health hazards and undermining product reputations."

So...what you're saying is there is NO WAY that ANYONE can know for sure WHAT they're getting...correct? Doesn't matter WHERE you buy it... Seems that greedy people are introducing bogus products into the supply chain and there's NO way to tell them apart.

Tell me, what prevents them from ALSO selling counterfeit oil? I mean if "I" were to sell "fake" oil, I'd sell the EXPENSIVE stuff where the profit was larger, I wouldn't counterfeit WalMart "cheap" oil! It's like making your own money...you make $100's not $1's.

Well, if you purchased your oil directly from the manufacturer that would eliminate any problems with counterfeit oil. Might be a little hard to do that with pills. :D

You find me one person... just one who has taken an RTV900 and run generic oil in it and not seen a performance difference. Read the threads online, the difference is so noticable that some people have gone out and emptied the crappy oil out after just a few hours.

Thats not to say its going to be so obvious on all machines. This is just one where the difference is so clear its impossible to ignore. Blanket statements that all oils is the same and okay in every application are simply not true.

OK i may not be so familiar with the little stuff as the big equipment , But i really cant see that a 45hp lawn tractor could be more sophisticated or demanding than a 200'000 dollar combine or powershift tractor of 400 hp.

There's close to $750'000 in machinery sat on my yard and i use whatever oil i can get a deal on , Plus our temperature ranges from -40 c to 35 above ,Admittedly i did try some 0-40 synthetic motor oil in my snow blower tractor last year and it did make starting easier in -40 but i wont pay $97 per pail again , an oil pan heater is $20?

Equipment performance isn't the only thing you get out of superior lubricating oils. The main advantage is extended equipment life with reduced down time.

Our turbodiesel Freightliner RV gets the same synthetic fluids our Kubota L-39, L-3130, and ZD-21 do, so do our Mercedes Turbodiesels and VW turbodiesels. :D

Didn't notice this exciting thread until now. What a bunch of great discussion!

On HST's running better with high "grade" oils, I am assuming you mean SUDT runs better than UDT? That isn't a high grade oil, it's a multi-vis oil and it runs better due to it being thinner. 5w30 is the equivalent viscosity index for SUDT if memory serves. I am willing to bet a pop on that being the same or similar with the RTV's. Not "better" just a more suitable viscosity.

The original poster wanted to know if buying a pail of trans/hy at wally was ok. Lot's of talk but did many look at the MSDS link? It lists the original manufacturers of the wally brand tractor fluids as either Penzoil or Quaker State. So, in my view - Wally world tractor fluids are just fine. In fact they are made by the brand name folks.
