( The dealer in Berlin whose name I will not mention : F -- Kept the tractor for 2 weeks, then informed me of their policy. Obviously did not want my business and should have told me that when I called them about the issue in the first place. )

COme on NH55, you can tell us the dealer's name. I promise we won't tell anyone! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No, really, good dealers need to be mentioned often. Bad dealers need to be mentioned even more often.

Bob I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here but I believe that the policy here at this site is to NOT mention a dealers name if we are not happy with them.

There might be a legal issue for the poster if he bad-mouths a specific dealer.

That PC stuff does tend to stink a bit.. considering you can talk good about a good dealer.. but not talk bad about a bad dealer... real one-sided..

How can it be a legal issue? If the facts are facts and not fiction, then whats the diff?

I was not aware that speaking bad about bad was fobidden here. Is it an unwritten rule?? I only made a comment to AndyMa about my dealer after he recomended them to me.

Well said!!

Maybe a moderator will jump in here and clarify this point for us.

I agree that if a dealer takes care of his customers that praise should follow and likewise for the opposite but unfortunately we don't get to make the rules.

We are obligated to follow them however. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe a moderator will speak up and clarify. I re-read the rules and did not find anything about this issue...unless they consider "defame" the same thing.

Granted the truth hurts sometimes, but facts are facts.

I still don't believe any legal issues could arise other than being banned from TBN. But it's their house and their rules.

How about it?? any moderators want to shed some light on this subject??

Not speaking as a moderator, I would say from lessens learned in the past that when you bad mouth someone, even if it is true in your mind, it may be false in a jury's mind and you will end up paying for what you said. It stinks, but it is the truth. Who has deeper pockets to pursue this, you or a dealer or a corporation?

Take your lessen learned, take your business to a dealer that you can live with and inform others of the pitfalls of buying from one dealer without checking into warranty issues at the dealer you plan on using, first.

The whole issue makes you wonder, though... what if you buy a tractor and move to another part of the country? What if you use your tractor in multiple locations away from your home dealer? Would they try and soak you or be happy to have your business? Food for thought.

No matter how righteous someone's case appears, you are only hearing one side of the story. The other party is not on TBN sharing their side of the story. It's no more complicated than that.

I think this is a good lesson learned by everyone. Dealer's do not make money on warranty as several people think. In fact, it is an expense. There are situations where a dealer makes a habit of undercutting their surrounding dealers. For customers, it might seem like a good deal but I have always preferred to buy from who I expect to service it. For me anyways, it just makes the relationship better. In saying that, all dealers should service the brand they sell regardless of if it were purchased from them or not. I do understand however when they prefer to service their loyal customers before others.
