Water For Fuel??????????

Maybe they could apply the excess wind power to heating elements, heat up giant vats of potassium chlorate to separate it into potassium chloride and oxygen, add reject gummy bears and use the resulting power to strip hydrogen from salt water to power turbines to desalinate the oceans and stop the drought in California.....

IMO, that is the most important statement of this thread.

Remember Einsteins formula.....E=MC^2

There is a tremendous amount of energy in EVERYTHING. Even water. Just because we do not posses the technology or ability to utilize it efficient YET, does not me it isnt possible.

Look at how much power comes from nuclear reaction with such small amounts of matter. I am sure at one time that would have been thought to be impossible.

Chemical and nuclear reaction are not even close.

Problem is many folks get mixed up with and blend together. #1 water injection to reduce detonation and limit peak exhaust temperatures. #2 burning a component of water, the hydrogen. #3 the three laws of thermal dynamics appear to be lost on the general public.

Ya dat.

And can't water also be injected directly into the cylinder after combustion to use the now waste heat to generate steam inside the cylinder?

The technology is called photosynthesis. Plants store energy quite efficiently. They need minerals, air, water and sun energy. When you burn wood (or coal or gasoline for that matter) you get 100% of the (sun) energy that was used to grow the plant plus all the elements. Energy will turn into heat and the elements will be recycled.

Because of lack of gasoline in Europe during WW2 cars used to have pyrolysis generator and used pyrolysis gas to run the engine.

You don't need electrolysis to break up water into H2 and O. You can use heat. Water dissociate to its components above 550C/1020F. Catalyst could bring the temperature down though. Plants do it at ambient temperature.

Stopped at a gas station to buy gas and dip.... On my way from the pump to the store I walked my the most interesting vehicle, a beat up 90's era Dodge Dakota. It had Bald (may pop) tires and did not have a straight body panel on it.

However in the bed; was a unique stainless steel box with a PVC pipe sticking out both ends. One end had a big K&N cylindrical filter and plumbed out the other side of the box was a pipe that led from the bed to the hood. I thought, "what the heck is that"? I typically do not look in other peoples vehicles but it did not fit the personality of an old beat up farm truck. It didn't end there, up front there was a row of Mason jars filled with what looked to be water and wire that was spun like a resistor with terminals that connected each mason jar lid in parallel. Tubes were plumbed through the lids and connected in series to a tube that led under the hood. I was intrigued and curious at the "science project that stood before me".

Finally walking into the store to pay for my fuel and purchase my much needed chew of tobacco I couldn't help but wonder at what I had just seen. As the day progressed I became determined to find out what it was that I saw; I still had the better part of the day stuck at work- without any resource to research what I was and it was grueling.

Well I am home and now know that you can make a hydrogen powered anything out of a mason jar/some wire/water. I will be doing this, as I had no idea that a beat up truck that look like a distillery was running on water. Blew my mind!!!

Anyone else out there seen anything like this before?

It is bad you don't have a picture. My guess would be it had wood pyrolysis generator on the truck bed.

Not a 100%, probably on the order of 5%.
