Wear the stupid helmet !!!!

Beliefs are a slippery slope to argue. When I was an atheist, it was easy to sign up to be an organ donor. When I accepted Christ, I never considered changing that decision.

This thread has made me think about that. We are to love others like we love ourselves. I cannot think of a more loving gift than saving the life of another, or making the life of another better when I no longer have a use for this sack of flesh and bones. God, as I know Him, does not value our bodies but our souls.

I realize this is a lot of thread drift but in my mind it is a more important topic than having a pissing contest over wearing helmets. On that subject, an adult should decide to do what they wish within the law.

Being in my late sixties, having more organ donors is not a bad thing. God does move in mysterious ways.

AFAIK the state DOES require a helmet for snowmobile riders. Even though as someone else noted, you have zilch for peripheral vision

In my opinion that is completely false.
If your losing peripheral vision with a helmet you picked the wrong helmet.

Been riding bikes over 55+ years w/out helmet and feel lot safer w/out helmet.
NH has no helmet law over certain age..."Let those ride decide"

As long as you have great insurance and will be paying 100% of your healthcare and related costs in the event of an accident...I am fine with it!

DOT helmets require a minimum of 210 degrees horizontal vision clearance.
So there you go. DOT approved helmets don't impair horizontal peripheral vision.

That always cracked me up. The same crew that refuses to wear a helmet will insist that their straight pipes are a safety precaution.

I don’t get too wound up about other people wearing helmets. The same argument could be made against riding motorcycles at all. For most riders, it’s just an unnecessary risk that they enjoy. Cigarette smoking, obesity, tailgating, all sorts of behaviors impact tax payers and loved ones.

My wife came off her horse a few years ago and broke her hip quite severely. Over $60k in medical bills were mostly covered by insurance. Everyone else that pays health insurance premiums helped to pay her bills. It was all because she wanted to go for a trail ride on a beautiful fall day.

People are going to make their own decisions regarding acceptable risks. Society in general picks up the cost, but I’d go crazy worrying about it.

I don’t get too wound up about other people wearing helmets.

Neither do I. Personally I don't give a ratts butt what other people do.

That said, although I may be old and grumpy myself, I've learned from experiences.

I remember when I lived in West Virginia, me and some buddies would go steep creeking and snow boarding the same day. Funny thing, back then, I ALWAYS wore a helmet when I paddled on a creek or river. Never wore a helmet when I snowboarded. Who needed a helmet snowboarding? Now? knowing what I know I would never snowboard without a helmet. That comes from experience and common sense IMO.

Think about that long and hard buddy! Not only have I paid taxes all my life and never really took anything other than the time it took a cop to write a ticket but I have basically heated the local fire dept and pritty much paid for the majority of the fire truck out of my own pocket.
So I would say then Hopefully you don稚 live close to me because I don稚 want my share of that truck putting out your house if it痴 burning.

Your attitude is typical of those who think everyone should and must think just like me or else they must pay a high price for thier disobedience to my will!

I see in some other posts the remarks about Harley riders and the need to be cool. Again folks think again I don稚 ride a HD nor do I feel the need to enhance my manhood by acting like a rebel. Way too old for that and I,d probably have a heart attack if I got it too much at my age!
