Funny how much these numbers change from year to year and model to model. My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT, Quad Cab, 4WD, 6.25 Ft Bed, 4-Speed Automatic Transmission, 5.9L CTD with 3.73 Axle Ratio specs are as follows: (From Dodge's website)
Keep in mind the curb weights given are typically completely empty, no fluids, no passengers, no battery, no options, etc... to make the payload look better. Your truck with gas and extras like the first one posted is probably right about the same.

My 03 RAM 1500 quad cab short bed 4x4 HEMI was 5820lbs with half a tank of gas.

The Dodge towing website shows my truck as weighing 6256. I recall the weight at the quarry was 6200 subtracting my weight. Our landfill also has a scale. I can't find that slip.2004 2wd 2500 long bed SLT. Not much payload but I can haul about 50 squares of grass/bermuda hay.

Dodge's website, where I got my information said the curb weight was the weight of the unmanned vehicle without cargo, but including fuel, necessary fluids, and all standard equipment.

I had mine weighed at the local FS. The sell fertilizer and that kind of stuff. They did it for free. There are a lot of places that have scales and will weigh it for free.

We're pretty remote. I'll have to check around.

I've weighed mine a few times at different places and with me in it it is about 7300 pounds. My truck and empty gooseneck weigh 12250 according to two different CAT scales. I've had 4000 pounds of stone in the bed a few times and it handled it very well. Could I feel it back there, absolutely, but it was very stable and stopped well.

I'm not even sure if there's a truck scale within 100 miles of me.

Salol Elevators

There will be one here. If they are not busy, they might let you drive on for free, that's what the guy at my local elevator will let me do. When the boss is around the price goes up to $5 ;).

I weighed mine at the local dump as they have a scale for construction dumping and sewage trucks. Free for any taxpayers of course. ;-)

Good find. Here I was thinking of DOT scales, so I was missing the obvious. I keep forgetting they're even there. :ashamed:

Thanks!

I decided to see how much my truck weighed and ran it across a scales. Its a 2004 Dodge Quad Cab short bed, 3/4 ton, 5.9 Cummins. It had about 3/4 tank of fuel, I figured a full tank would have added about 80 pounds. I also have a tool box in the bed, and I would estimate it is about 100 pounds with the stuff in it.

The truck weighed 7430 pounds without me on board. The truck is rated for a gross weight of 9000 lbs. You can see from this, in reality I shouldn't haul anymore in the bed than a 1/2 ton. In reality, I'm not to worried about hauling a little more than that if needed. From what I've read the only difference on my truck and a 1 ton SRW is the rear springs. The brakes and axles, frame, every thing else is the same.

The way I use my truck, this is a non-issue, but Diamond Pilot is always warning people if they haul heavy loads not to get a 3/4 ton, and if you look at my numbers, he is correct.

I actually looked up the specs for my year truck, and a 1 ton SRW would allow me an additional 900 lbs of gross vehcile weight, but an additional 4000 lbs of towing, mine is rated at 12,000 lbs towing and a SRW is rated at 16,000 lbs.

Yep, this is the same issue I ran into with my 03 Dodge 3/4 ton and my 04 F-250. Most 3/4 ton trucks with 3/4 tank of fuel and driver I have found to be right at 7,500# except for pre 2011 GM truck which were around the 7,200# mark due to the lighter frames and front end.
