If building or modifying an enclosed trailer, I think a mig welder would be your best choice. I've only used Miller or Lincoln industrial grade welders so I can't help you with the ones you mentioned.

Include a decent 4-1/2 grinder in the budget if you go with mig. Mig welding isn't very forgiving on rusty or dirty metal.

I didn't know if the Maxtron would work on single phase like the Invisions will, and didn't care enough to rewire it to find out.

Jim, the Maxtron will run on single OR 3 phase. (100% duty cycle @450 amps on 3 phase. )

The Everlast 200 is quite a bit bigger than the Maxstar/ESAB sized machines which are really small and convenient for portable work.

How so? The Maxstar 210 is overall bigger. The ESAB is smaller, mostly in width but not as powerful by 40 amps.

SA, I think they have resized the case slightly since the last generation. Do you have a tape you can stick on that unit? Don't have one here right now.

I found that out a while later. I just hadn't tested that machine and didn't want to open it up at the time. I'd already made my money on the feeder so it was another $50 to pay for gas. Having the pulser and all the programs in the Invision, I didn't have any motivation to keep it for myself back then. Now I wish I still had it. I've got another Miller feeder kicking around and no power supply. :laughing: I could send them and an extra bottle of gas up to the cabin and have some real capabilities up there without having to move the Invision.

Heck, I've got a spare XR control and gun right now too. The gun needs new plastics that might not be available anymore, but it still works.

How?? I've owned all 3 and the Everlast is bigger if I remember correctly. I have not owned a 210 maxstar so both machines are much less amperage than 200.

Not following. Which machines are you talking about? Are you comparing apples to apples?

I think (maybe) Mark is talking about the Maxstar 200 which is physically larger than the Maxstar 150's

Edit. Oops. Just realized the Maxstar is now a 210.

I am and he was talking about the Everlast 200, which would in the context be a PA 200. The Maxstar 200 is no longer available. The 210 is the current version.

If you want to drop down to the 150, then the PA 140ST would fall in that range, or the PA 160, or 160STH...which are much smaller in size and about the same capability of a maxstar or esab of the similar performance level.
