I have a transformer machine...similar to the guy who made the video... there all pretty similar actually when u take the covers off! Im hoping to find some sort of motor I can run off the power that's inside the weldor(220 or machine dc) and there is no 120 in a welder! so u cant just tie in too the neutral.

Replace the cord with a 4 wire one and you will have neutral. Otherwise, Amazon.com: Replacement 12V AC Adapter for 12V Medela pump in style and Lactina Breastpumps. 100V-240V worldwide input voltage. 80% lighter than Medela Original: Baby and Amazon.com: AspenTek US LED Power Adapter with 110VAC input to 12VDC output, 2-Amp, 24-watt, ideal for led strip light.: Everything Else will take any voltage from 110VAC to 240VAC and drop it down to 12VDC.

I'm no expert but I would think on an inverter machine the current adjustment is just a pot that would be simple to run remotely.

It might be.... but you may have problems with the wires acting like an antenna and causing troubble with the inverter. If one was to try it, I would reccomend using shielded microphone cable.

Pretty clever, but my wife is gonna kick my @ss when she sees me in the garage with her medela bag wiring the welder up.

gotta love amazon they have everything...but 12v 1amp don't power much of a motor. but to make the adjustment slow one would want a severe underdrive so maybe???

Just some examples, how much force is needed?
This motor would work with those power supplies: 2RPM, 75 inch pounds, 0.8 Amps at 12VDC - 2 RPM 12 VDC GEARMOTOR
21 RPM 12VDC, 4.5amps at stall: 21 RPM 12 VDC RA GEARMOTOR. Would need this power supply: 5 amps at 12VDC with 100-240VAC input - Amazon.com: R-Tech UL Listed Regulated Power Adapter, 12VDC, 5 Amp for Surveillance Security Camera CCTV: Camera & Photo

I have an older maxstar tig machine that I made a remote for. A yard stick, 1.5v project gear box from radioshack, two sections of hose (one on the gear box another on the knob) and a rocker on the torch for up/down. I just use a band of rubber to connect the two, so if you are all the way up or down and hit it, nothing breaks, it just slips.

It is pulled out in this photo so you can see how it works - the band.
