Thought I would throw this out there for giggles. Made this last summer by modifying a table I bought off a guy for $20. He was a one-man injection mold shop. Pretty rare in this day and age, but he decided to hang it up and retire finally as things were getting pretty thin and there wasn't much point staying open any longer. He was a great guy to have around for smaller projects or things where you needed more precision than a regular machinist would "get" in some cases. So I bought this table off him as he retired for all of $20...
So here is the "before" photo, mostly. I had already removed the second expanded metal shelf as it was not very useful with 2 shelves in that little space. making legs out of 2x2x3/16 square tube.
And photos below of it all complete. I had the base powder coated and it looks really nice. They had to blast it to get all the old paint off and make it happy for the new finish, but it came out great. Top is only 1/4" and I had to do a lot of shimming to get it sort of flat as the original table was not real even, and then less so after my additional welding. I put screw adjustable feet on the ends of all legs so I could even it out and level it better.
I put hitch receivers on it and mounted the vise to a plate that I stuck in one.
Shelf angle iron works great for hanging grinders.
I needed it to be wider than it really was for the railing project I was going to work on first, so I made a set of extensions that uses the receivers. Didn't come out as flat as I would have liked, but I was able to make do.
