Wow, you seriously loaded that spring! Why not just replace it with a stiffer spring that provides more holding force?

Daryl: Thanks for the nice "roast" - can't ya just feel the love? LOL

I don't have time to properly return the favor, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I promise I'll return an equal measure of "love". /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The one part on my tractor that concerns me the most is the operator.

1. I did not have a spring stiff enough to hold the pin down.
2. Some one on this site posted this fix and I figured if it worked for them I would give it a shot, and it has worked great for the last 1.5 years since I added the washers.

Re: What are the \"weak spots\" on your tractor?

About that step: Back when my husband was only my boyfriend, he was standing with one foot on the step while I was driving through the orchard. The front wheel flipped about a 4" branch up and crushed the step, mashing his foot between the step and the platform just above it. He's a JD man from way back, and pointed out to me the difference between the metal of my Kubota M4700's step and his JD, which I have to agree is considerable. Yeah, I know he shouldn't have been riding double--tell him! Now he tells everybody I had to mash his foot to be able to catch him.

Fruitlady, welcome to TBN! It's always nice to have a biologist on board - you and SkyPup (Thom) would have a lot to talk about, I'm sure. (Check out his bio, and feel free to fill out yours, under "Personal Information").

Sorry about your husband's foot, I hope it didn't get too badly hurt. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I guess that step is just one more thing to think about "beefing up" on my tractor.

Again, welcome!

Another girl on the forum, good. More diverse opinions. My wife always thought the HST was made for a girl...her.

The step(s) on the 5030 were a little wimpy but I never tweaked one. The M9 has real steel bar (welded) step(s). Takes 2 to get in the cab.

This summer bub, chocolate milk and cookies for sure.

You know it Daryl - I'm really looking forward to it.

Another girl on the forum, good.

Yeah, how about that! I think that makes 3 now? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I totally agree with you about diverse opinions - the more the merrier. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't learn something on this site - and heck, just the other day, Bill/Henro just might have saved my life - that was worth 1 year's membership dues right there. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Take care buddy -
