Rear Blade What can a rear blade do for me that my box blade can't? Road and ditches mainly

Well it makes me think that my 6500lb tractor would be okay with a 850lb 8' blade. I think that's what I'll buy.

My 3800 lb L4330 does just fine with my 8' EA rear grader blade. That size tractor, there's no way I'd buy a 7'er.

That's what I would do. If the length turns out to be just too much, you can always shorten the 8 footer. Since your tractor can handle weight, I would also lean toward the heaviest blade. Do all the blades you listed have the same shape & thickness? That's something to check. Also, do consider the end caps - they are perfect for jobs where you are trying to smooth using existing material rather than just cut & move the dirt off to the side. Caps are useless in snow, but they unbolt for winter.

The land pride is 5/16" and most the others are 3/8" but the land pride also has full box support all the way across the blade with 3/16", so it looks stouter to me. I have some of that info in my comparison matrix up a few posts back.

That's the moldboard that I described. They all look to have 1/2" blades.

And put me into a heavy duty 8' three cylinder heavy duty rbt4096 blade with a diverter valve.



On monthly payments at zero interest.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll get the sideplates, shoes, and gauge wheel as I need them in the future. This thing was already $4390 like it sits with tax included and the diverter valve.

Thanks. 7' would cover my tracks in the straight form. It wouldn't at an angle. Is that what you're referring to?

Yes. I seldom run my rear blade in a flat profile to my tractor. It is almost always set to 30 or 45 degrees when in use. I would never consider a blade that did not cover my tractors at 45 degrees when centered behind the tractor. I would consider on wide enough centered to cover tracks that could be offset for special purposes (cleaning out or digging ditches).

Here is the manual diverter valve setup so my two rear remotes will move three cylinders. They said that I should be able to reach the handle from my seat.

Exactly. A good option for many uses where constant control is not a necessary. I had planned on using one to power a grapple and though it can be done it is not very efficient for me. But on a rear blade, it would be a good way to go.
