What do you like least about your tractor?

As for my 2710:

The power steering (or lack thereof) in the heat.

Difficulty changing implements - especially the drive shaft. I've got a rotator cuff problem in my shoulder and its really hard to get the leverage to bend or squat, get my greasy hands up inside that little cover that mounts above the PTO shaft, and (1) line up the splines pefectly while (2) holding the spring-loaded collar back (or button as the case may be) while (3) pushing the drive shaft onto the PTO shaft. Sometimes it won't go because (1) the splines aren't lined up exactly (2) there's not enough grease on the shaft requiring me to get even greasier hands or (3) my back or shoulder gives out before getting the drive shaft fully snapped into place.

The air conditioning really sucks in this Texas heat.

G'day Mark,I guess no a/c cab for those cold wet miserable days when you just have to go out to do some chore that can't be put off. and no remote hydraulics or FEL yet. Kerry.

My John Deere is absolutely perfect in every way except the cup holder… I didn’t know for about $120,000 more I could of gotten the beverage cooler model…/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Beverage cooler
Handy beverage holder is located in the air conditioning vent located on the right-hand side of the seat for easy access.

Hmmm. Lighting is poor and is on the A list for upgrades. I'd like the deluxe temp-o-matic cup holder please (with dust cover of course). The pencil box (good name for that excuse of a tool box) definitely needs replacing. It would also be nice to have the semi-swivel seat that the boomer has.

On the back end, I'd like to have easier access to the 3ph lift control (something like a mini lever under a protective bail) so it would be less time consuming to mount implements. Also, extendable lift arms and/or (and I plan to try this) some measuring marks on the adjustable arm so I put things on straight the first time. Let's add some metal protectors around the plastic tail-light assemblies too. How about a canopy with a spring-loaded back section (if you get the backhoe too close it just slides forward).

Storage bucket for chains (not the tire chains). Wider, beefier fenders (so I can put more stuff on 'em /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Would I pay the extra coupleagrand for all this - probably not . It's more fun to make my own additions, but there are some I'd have taken in a heartbeat.

All said, I think my 3710's pretty darned good just as it is!

The biggest problem with my tractor is the loud motor.. That L2650 put's out as much noise and anything else...

I own a JD4600 power reverser, it does have a nice little cup holder in the right fender which would make excellent milk shakes because the fenders shake so bad at certain rpms. It is imposible to keep a opened pop or beer in it while operating unless you want it slopped all over and that is if it just doesn't pitch the whole can, cup, bottle, full or empty to the ground. The hydraulics from the jumping 3-point to that joke they call a second scv for the rear, I hope Deere works on there hydraulics, I can live with the cup holder and not being able to have a sip or two while I'm working but those hydraulics make you want to sip alot, and I don't mean pop.

JD 4200 hst...1. close position of pto/3pt control levers. 2. fog-up'able guage cluster unit 3. proximity of forward/reverse pedals to fel control stick.(even w/stick lock-up system) 4. design of hood hinge.(starting to crack at hinge point) 5. battery mount which allows acid to leak out and corrode the fluid cooling radiators. 6. fel mounting system which might un-couple from tractor w/o "recall-installed" retainer clamp....All these shagnasty dislikes have been corrected, eliminated,
or improved...but, sometimes it's nice to ***** in public. Hey! Just ask the machine what's wrong with me!!!!!

Kerr, where do you do your tractoring that has such scenery--the local mall?

I'm trying very hard to find things I dont like about my 2910 to justify going to a larger tractor, but so far I havent succeeded. For the size tractor it is, it is an outstanding package. I dont like the pants-grabbling fender levers and I grumbled about the rattling joystick in a separate thread--but these are small things. I do wish the tires were a little larger.

I guess what I'd really like is a Kubota with a frame size in between the B series and the Grand L series.

Seriously considering disabling the safety so that I can stretch occasionally and let my pants dry...

Two crimp-on spade connectors to slide into the back of the connector on a 2" piece of wire. No problem!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Freedom to stretch. Wow!...but look out for the tree limbs./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

...now if I can just get the seat lubed so it slides forward-backward easily, I'll be a happy man. ...no fat boy needs to lose weight jokes, please. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I never expected to get this much response to the question, much less so many quality ones. I expected most of them to be joking replies. I sure hope the tractor manufacturers are reading it, too.

I've been away for a couple days, so haven't been able to read them until now.

Now, for a few more of my gripes: I hate the "pencil holder" toolbox, as it was so appropriately called. Belive it or not, in that tiny box I have two pry bars, two rubber bungee cords, a few spare finger-mashie clip rings, a spare top link pin, two adjustable wrenches, a pair of pliers, and a 2-lb hammer. The only problem is, there are a few more things I'd like to have in there, and the only way to get anything out is to unpack the whole thing - somehow, whatever I want has always managed to vibrate to the bottom...

Another thing: I wish the tractor manufacturers would let you choose a color like car manufacturers do. This would solve another problem I have with my Kubota - I like green a lot better than orange.

A lot of the things I didn't like about it, I've fixed. It's all detailed ad infinitum, ad nauseum in the "L4310 enhancements" thread I started in the Tractor Customization forum. Seat, wimpy lights, lack of a canopy, lack of real temperature gauges (real gauges have numbers), lack of backup alarm/horn, lower lift capacity than I wanted, less traction than I wanted, etc. I'm just picky, I guess... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
